Funding Local Projects

NEW PLANNING FUND TO WIDEN OPPORTUNITIES AND SCOPE The Authority has also launched a new Planning Fund which will consolidate all the existing funds w including the Urban Improvement Fund (UIF) and the Commuters Parking Payment Scheme (CPPS) that are collected from development permits and are made available for projects to be carried out within the community. Erasmus+ Project

SUPPORTING THE PLANNING PROCESS THROUGH SOUND ADMINISTRATIVE PROCEDURES

For the past four years the Human Resources Unit has been applying for EU Funding, first through the Lifelong Learning Project (LLP) and more recently through the Erasmus+ Programme, to send Authority staff on job shadowing placements. Read more

Public Consultation

SITE AT FORMER UMBERTO CALOSSO SCHOOL The Planning Authority has been guided by Government to initiate the process for a local plan review for the site of the former Umberto Calosso school in Santa Venera.The proposed review which will amend Policy SV02 and Map SVM 1 of the Central Malta Local Plan (2006) will seek to address the increased requirement for additional office space in a key and central location. Statistics DWELLINGS APPROVED IN NOVEMBER

During the month of November, there was an increase in the number of approved dwellings over the previous years. The Planning Authority approved 874 new apartments, 96 maisonettes and 55 terraced houses. Also during the month of November, statistics show a significant increase in the number of validated development

Public Lecture

URBAN REGENERATION IN MALTA To celebrate World Town Planning Day, the Planning Authority organised a public lecture at Villa Arrigo focusing on urban regeneration in Malta. The lecture was delivered by Jeff Nottage and Damian Price, who specialise in transport strategy, urban planning and design. Read More
