350 YEAR OLD GHARGHUR CHAPEL TO BE RESTORED The Planning Commission approved restoration works on the façade and interior walls of the Chapel dedicated to the Assumption of Our Lady, in the locality of Gharghur. The Chapel which is situated in Triq il-Kbira and dates back to the 16th Century was endowed by a certain Bernarda Cauchi, from where it gets its familiar name Ta’ Bernarda. Read more
Planning Decision PERMISSION GRANTED FOR NEW ANCILLARY SPORT FACILITIES The Planning Commission has approved two planning applications for the construction of new ancillary facilities that will help upgrade and improve the progress of the respective sports. Read more
Tender Issued SERVICE TENDER FOR THE PROVISION OF HEALTH INSURANCE COVERS TO THE PLANNING AUTHORITY The Planning Authority has issued a service tender for the provision of health insurance cover for its employees. The tender seeks to provide Planning Authority employees and their dependents with benefits pertaining to a private clinic cover, private Hospital cover and preventive care cover. Tenders must be submitted online by not later than 09.30 of Friday, 27th January, 2017. Read more

SITE AT FORMER UMBERTO CALOSSO SCHOOL The Planning Authority has been guided by Government to initiate the process for a local plan review for the site of the former Umberto Calosso school in Santa Venera.The proposed review which will amend Policy SV02 and Map SVM 1 of the Central Malta Local Plan (2006) will seek to address the increased requirement for additional office space in a key and central location. Protecting Buildings and Monuments in Valletta PONSONBY’S COLUMN This monument to Sir Frederick Cavendish Ponsomby, who was governor of Malta between 1827 and 1836, was erected in 1838 on St Andrew's Bastion close to Triq il-Mitħna by the side of Hastings Garden. Read more
