Emergency Conservation Order PROTECTING 300 YEAR OLD STRUCTURE A 300 year old rural building on the periphery of San Gwann was issued with an Emergency Conservation Order (ECO) by the Planning Authority. The Planning Board refused a planning application to sanction development works which are accommodating wild animals and ancillary facilities at a site which previously used as agricultural land. THE BRIDGE, STEPS, EMBANKMENT, WALKWAY AND STATUE OF THE BAPTISM OF CHRIST IN TRIQ IL-LVANT
The Victorian bridge at Victoria Gate and walkway were constructed by Westwood Baillie & Co. of London. The bridge is composed of two large horizontal rolled steel joists that span Triq il-Lvant while the floor boards were originally wooden planks reutilised from a deck of a sailing ship, but have since been replaced.
