ROLE PURPOSE To be responsible to ensure that the passengers of Plan Sri Lanka are transported to required locations with safety, timeliness and comfort in accordance with Plan’s principles, values, policies, guidelines, and complying with Plan’s corporate policies and procedures.
DIMENSIONS OF THE ROLE Under the operational guidance and supervision of Programme Operations Supervisor, the Driver provides reliable and safe driving services to the Plan CO/PU office in general, programme activities and other Plan SL staff and visitors ensuring highest standards of discretion and integrity, sense of responsibility, excellent knowledge of protocol and security issues. The Driver also demonstrates a client-oriented approach, courtesy, tact and ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.
ACCOUNTABILITIES Key Result Area (KRA) 1: Ensure that the passengers of Plan Sri Lanka are transported to required location with safety, timeliness and comfort. Indicators for Success Drive vehicles to relevant destination as instructed by the supervisor. Drive the passengers safely and comfortably within the route guidelines provided. Exercise defensive driving while on the road to prevent accident. Plan route and requirements by studying schedule or ad-hoc requests by the office.

Maintain passenger confidence by keeping information given or captured during the service strictly confidential.
Key Result Area (KRA) 2: Assigned vehicle is maintained and is kept at technically and aesthetically peak levels. Indicators for Success Keep assigned vehicle always clean and in good condition. Conduct routine check-up of the vehicle’s brake function, lights and tyre condition. Monitor fuel levels, lubricant levels, water (coolant), temperature, AC function, etc. Alert the supervisors of any malfunction and have them repaired or attended to. Key Result Area (KRA) 3: Ensure high level of discipline and adherence to the company policies and values and the country’s traffic rules and regulations. Indicators for Success Maintain a high level of professionalism. Observe at all time the traffic rules and demonstrate positive and exemplary driver behaviour. Monitor expiration and renewal of driver’s license and have them renewed at the correct time. Key Result Area (KRA) 4: Ensure protecting the image and respect of the organization and contributing through communication to defuse tension and educate public that comes in contact with all locations. Indicators for Success Always build organizational image while engage with communities. Keep communications with members of the public and other organizations, highly professional and within the confidentiality framework. Treat staff as internal customers and work towards satisfying their needs within the role framework. Key Result Area (KRA) 5: Contribute towards programme implementation and training programmes through acquisition of multiple skills and positive attitude. Indicators for Success Help transport the goods and equipment for project implementation and training programmes. Fulfil requests of the office by picking up and delivering items as directed and running errands. Other Responsibilities:

Carries out any other duties that may be assigned by the Supervisor within the competencies required by the job. Provides support and assistance to the PU/CO outside regular hours as and when required.

At least 5 years of experience working as a driver of all types of vehicles, preferably in International Organisations/NGOS. Knowledge of identifying vehicle repairs and troubleshooting mechanical problems. Knowledge of Tamil is essential. Working knowledge of English and Sinhala is an advantage. Ability to communicate in a courteous and clear manner. Ability to follow instructions accurately and meet deadlines. Good knowledge of the area and the road network in the Northern Province.
