WHAT’S NEW
A selection of new projects and concepts from the leading international shipyards and design studios that will grace the waves in the near future
by Mary Hegarty and Désirée SormaniThe new Riva 54 Metri promises to be the largest Riva model ever built and the good news is that the contract has been signed for the first example. An elegant confection of 54 metres of sleek, sporty lines and generous volumes, the yacht is designed to create the ultimate in onboard luxury, comfort and relaxation. Drawing on the legendary brand’s recent design signatures, which include reverse-angled windows and clever chiaroscuro interplays, it is the result of the design marriage par excellence between Mauro Micheli and Sergio Beretta, co-foundres of Officina Italiana Design, the Piero Ferrari-led Strategic Product Committee and the Ferretti Group Engineering Department. It’s no surprise therefore that the Riva 54 Metri has an amazing 370 sqm of deck space with a beach area that offers guests great privacy as well as contact with the water. There is even a beautiful wellness area complete with spa, pool and gym. Thanks to an all-aluminium construction, the 54 Metri will deliver a very brisk 18 knots at full throttle. The first example will go to her lucky owner in 2025 and work has already begun at the Riva Superyachts Division in Ancona, a state-of-the-art 80,000 square metre facility where all the brand’s 50 to 90m yachts are built. www.riva-yacht.com
