T
he main exterior feature of the 131 Yacht Sunseeker is the deep-V hull which offers safety, performance and amazing seakeeping. Aqua Libra has exterior living spaces laid over three decks and some very well-appointed luxury living spaces, which gave us an incredible blueprint to explore and develop. With this particular 131 Yacht we wanted to use new exterior deck arrangements that use deep lounge-style seating to provide the ultimate in comfort for the owner and his guests. On the main deck, aft of the saloon, is a shaded and generous seating area, with a wraparound U-shaped sofa, large coffee table and oversized chairs, creating a real feel of extra comfort throughout all the exterior spaces. We spent a lot of time working very closely with the owner and wanted to meet all his needs. We decided that the external sky deck and upper deck aft cockpit should be lengthened by approximately two metres to create additional deck space by accommodating a new bar and extra seating. In keeping with the theme of ‘voluminous whilst comfortable’, we created a fabulous sundeck, complete with wet bar, al fresco dining, sun pads, chaise loungers, deluxe Jacuzzi and partial shade. We placed particular emphasis the dining table with the huge barbeque on the upper deck as well as the sunbeds and the bar on the sky deck.

T
he success of every 131 Yacht interior design project is down to the design team’s relationship with each owner. This was acutely evident when we met the Aqua Libra owner for the first time. We understood quite clearly their dreams and aspirations for their new yacht and they provided sufficient information to enable us to create a special interior that was refined, elegant and individually styled. One of our main objectives was to accentuate the feeling of space and light. The 131 Yacht includes a unique glass façade treatment with large windows that provide a penthouse feel. This is combined with simple lines and details to create a pure, serene and flowing interior. We were particularly focused on special details in the bespoke furniture and fittings, and these were designed using rich dark woods with contrasting light lacquers. This created a very ‘East
meets West’ style. The darker elements sit against a neutral lighter envelope thus accentuating the finer details and this promoted a very tailored, balanced contemporary look. The general architectural interior is complemented with a blend of soft textural fabrics and wall finishes, and these were carefully selected by the owner’s wife from a range of stylish options we presented. This stage was extremely detailed with unique sofas, armchairs, dining furniture, special bed designs and accompanying embroidered linens were all designed & manufactured to suit the bespoke interior. Once the interior styling was agreed, we presented a range of special crockery, glassware and table cutlery options. We also worked with decorative lighting specialists and selected a range of exquisite lighting elements throughout the interior design. No project interior is left undressed and we spent time working with the owner and coordinating all the decorative interior accessories, even down to bespoke leather shoe boxes and special deck lanterns. The end result is cohesive and very personal to the owner. It is a project we are all very proud of.

There simply is no comparison, as demonstrated by its sales success. In total, Sunseeker has delivered over 125 yachts over 100 feet in length. We have currently completed 11 of our 131 Yachts with 10 currently being built or in planning to be built for customers. In addition, we have delivered 15 of our 40 Metre Yachts and 8 of our 37 Metre Yachts giving a total number of 34 yachts built with 10 more currently planned to complete our current customer orders. M/Y Aqua Libra is one of 11 131 Yachts that we have delivered since the model was launched in 2016. Each one built to very unique requirements of their owners across the world. At least six of these have been sold into the Mediterranean through Sunseeker London Group. Now that the group has expanded into Italy too, I am confident we will be seeing many more Sunseeker’s like ‘Aqua Libra’ cruising the magnificent Italian waters very soon.
