FROM THE Desk of the City Manager
The City Manager's Office handles the general administration of the City of Temple and executes the policies and objectives of the City Council. The City Manager is directly responsible to the Mayor and City Council and oversees the day-to-day operations of the City by coordinating all City departments activities and functions, including the development of the Strategic Plan. The City Manager's Office also leads the financial and budget management process for the City and directs the City's efforts to plan for the future.
Legislative Session
As we move into 2025, the City of Temple is actively engaged in the 89th State legislative session, which began earlier this month and will run through June 2. This critical period is when state lawmakers propose, debate, and enact laws that impact every Texan. For cities like ours, the session presents an opportunity to ensure our community’s priorities are represented in state-level decision-making. Key issues such as water, infrastructure, school funding, growth management and economic development, and public safety are under discussion, shaping the resources and authority that local governments depend on to serve residents effectively
The City’s State Legislative Program serves as our roadmap for advocating on behalf of Temple throughout the session. With a focus on priorities such as local decision-making, infrastructure, and public health and safety, the program allows us to champion policies that align with our community’s needs. The legislative process begins with lawmakers drafting and submitting bills, which are then reviewed and debated in committees City representatives and community advocates play a role in this process by providing input through hearings and meetings with legislators, ensuring Temple’s voice is heard Once bills pass through the House and Senate and are signed by the governor, they become law, directly shaping how our city operates.
The Legislative Task Force plays a crucial role in this advocacy effort. Made up of community leaders, the task force works to amplify Temple’s priorities at the state level By partnering with organizations like the Temple Chamber of Commerce and Temple and Belton ISDs, the task force ensures a unified and strategic approach to advancing our city’s interests
As this legislative session progresses, residents should expect key decisions at the state level to have a direct impact on our community shaping how we provide essential services and address our most pressing needs. Through the City of Temple’s Legislative Program, we are working to ensure that your priorities are heard and represented Whether securing funding for critical projects, protecting local decision-making, or advocating for policies that reflect Temple’s unique needs, our commitment remains steadfast
