FROM THE Desk of the City Manager

The City Manager's Office handles the general administration of the City of Temple and executes the policies and objectives of the City Council. The City Manager is directly responsible to the Mayor and City Council and oversees the day-to-day operations of the City by coordinating all City departments activities and functions, including the development of the Strategic Plan. The City Manager's Office also leads the financial and budget management process for the City and directs the City's efforts to plan for the future.

Spring Break in Temple, TX

Spring Break is a great time to relax, explore, and enjoy everything Temple has to offer whether you’re planning activities for kids, a family outing, or a fun day with friends. If you're looking for free and affordable ways to spend the break, start with a visit to the Temple Public Library, where you can enjoy a wide range of books, interactive programs, and community events. History lovers can check out the Temple Railroad & Heritage Museum, where engaging exhibits bring our city’s rich past to life.

This Spring Break, the Temple Railroad & Heritage Museum is offering 3 days of fun for kids ages 8-12 with hands-on activities and educational experiences. For those looking to stay active, the Sammons Community Center offers recreational activities, fitness classes, and events for all ages.

Another great way to spend Spring Break is by exploring Downtown Temple! With its mix of local shops, restaurants, and public art, it’s the perfect spot for a leisurely stroll or an afternoon of discovery. You can grab a coffee from a local café, shop unique boutiques, or visit one of the many downtown events happening throughout the week. For nature lovers, a hike at Chalk Ridge Falls is a great way to enjoy the outdoors and take in beautiful views of the falls.

As you enjoy your break, remember to prioritize safety whether you're driving, walking around town, or taking part in outdoor activities. Stay hydrated, be mindful of traffic, and your surroundings. Development Updates

These are exciting times in the City of Temple! New developmental projects are transforming our urban landscape, promising to bring innovation and vibrancy to our community. With a focus on sustainable design, these projects are set to revitalize our city's core, creating a dynamic hub for residents and visitors alike. Stay tuned for a reimagined Temple that seamlessly blends modernity with its rich heritage, making it a place we love to call home!

North Pea Ridge Road

As the City of Temple begins work on Phase 1 of the North Pea Ridge Road Improvements project, construction crews will be closing a portion of North Pea Ridge Road from Prairie View Road to Alabama Avenue beginning Monday, March 3. This closure is anticipated to last approximately 10 months as crews work to enhance the roadway and improve infrastructure for the community.

During this period, several detour routes will be available, including through Stonehollow Drive and Westfield Blvd. Drivers are encouraged to use caution in the area and pay close attention to all signage and traffic control devices for safety.

Upcoming Outdoor Warning Siren Test

Saturday, March 1 & April 5

On March 1 and April 5, the City of Temple Emergency Management Team will conduct an extended test of the city’s outdoor warning sirens at 11 a.m. Unlike the regular monthly tests, these tests will run for a longer duration of 3 minutes. While no severe weather is expected, this is a great reminder to stay prepared.

Clays for Claus

Saturday, April 5 at 8 a.m.

Join Temple Fire & Rescue for the Clays For Claus Clay Shooting Tournament on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Weber's Shooting Sports in Troy, Texas. This exciting event invites participants of all skill levels to enjoy a day of friendly competition, delicious food, and community spirit all while supporting a meaningful cause.

The tournament kicks off at 8 a.m. and includes a thrilling clay shooting competition with prizes for the top shooters. Breakfast and lunch will be provided to all participants, making it a full day of fun and camaraderie. Proceeds from the event benefit the Rescue Elves program, which helps provide Christmas gifts to families in need during the holiday season.

Annual Temple Community Treasures Visual Arts Contest

Don't miss your last chance to enter the Annual Temple Community Treasures Photography and Painting Contests, presented by the Temple Historic Preservation Board as part of Temple's observance of National Preservation Month in May. This annual contest invites artists and photographers to showcase their talent by capturing the stunning, historical beauty of Temple while highlighting the importance of protecting and preserving the city's historic buildings. Submissions are open for both photos and paintings, with framed entries due by 5 p.m. on Friday, April 4, 2025.

Women in Aviation Celebration

Saturday, March 1 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Join us as we celebrate the incredible contributions of women in aviation! This special event honors the legacy of trailblazing women in the industry starting with the world's first female pilot license while inspiring future generations to take flight.

Senior Scam Awareness Session

Wednesday, March 12 at 9:30 a.m.

The Temple Police Department is hosting a Senior Scam Awareness Session to help protect the community from common credit card scams targeting seniors. Join us at the Sammons Community Center, located at 2220 W Avenue D, Temple, TX 76504. Officers will discuss how to recognize scams and protect yourself from falling victim. This event is free and open to everyone, not just seniors, as scam awareness is important for all.

Public Works

Public Works plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for community members. Their primary objective is to ensure the maintenance, development, and improvement of public infrastructure and services. From roads and bridges to water supply systems and parks, public works departments are responsible for managing and enhancing these essential elements of a community. Their efforts contribute to the safety, accessibility, and overall quality of life within the community.

Upcoming Shred Event

Saturday, April 5 from 9 to 11 a.m.

Temple residents are invited to a free Shred Event on Saturday, April 5, from 9–11 a.m. at the Solid Waste Complex. Safely shred up to five banker boxes of personal documents.

Please note that this service is for residential use only. Don't miss this opportunity to securely dispose of sensitive paperwork!

Monthly Dumpster Drop

We understand how important it is to keep our neighborhoods clean and safe for everyone. That’s why the City of Temple is committed to continuing our Dumpster Drop program. We hope this initiative helps reduce illegal trash and tire dumping, making our community a better place for all of us!

What we provide:

Dropping a container monthly in different parts of town

Providing a trailer for the disposal of tires

Trash bags are available through Keep Temple Beautiful

Rakes, shovels, and other tools are available through the Temple Tool Library

This month will include two drops: March 14 - 17 in the Las Cruces District and March 28 - 31 in Northwest Hills.

Recycle Tip: Keep your recyclables loose! Avoid placing recyclables in plastic bags these can get tangled in sorting equipment, causing delays and even shutting down entire sorting lines. Instead, place all recyclables loose in your recycling container.

Annual Black History Month Ceremony

The City of Temple proudly honored Black History Month with a ceremony that highlighted the contributions of African Americans, tying into this year’s national theme, African Americans and Labor. The event featured inspiring speeches and reflections from community members, powerful artwork from the Cultural Activities Center, and historical artifacts from the Railroad and Heritage Museum.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating Black history, culture, and resilience. This event was a powerful reminder of the contributions African Americans have made to our community and beyond.
