TABLE OF CONTENTS Hello Fall! With school back in session, that means fall sports, special events and family gatherings are approaching fast. With continued progress on the fight against COVID-19 and its ever changing variants, we are doing everything we can to ensure we create fun, safe and exciting programs, events and facilities for all ages to enjoy! We are certainly in a better place than we were a year ago and are able to offer more events and classes. With that being said, we must still be prudent and follow sound medical advice. Due to this ever-changing event, we will continue to keep much of our information as digital as possible, including this edition of the Play by Play. Those attending aquatic fitness classes or open swim times can pay for a day pass for one time use or a punch card for repeated uses.

Sammons Park Indoor Pool can be rented for private parties. Parties are limited to a maximum of 36 guests and the cost to rent the facility is $140 for two hours and $175 for three hours. Rental times can be found in the table below:

AQUASIZE

Aquacize is a beginner to intermediate level water fitness class and is low impact to moderate pace. This water exercise class includes warm-up, aerobic training, and cool down, along with strength, toning and flexibility in shallow water. 18+ Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 9:15 am to 10:15am

Start the day with an early morning swim, squeeze in a midday workout, or come by after work for a few laps. Rain or shine you can always drop in for a swim. Lap Swim is reserved for those who are only swimming laps or water walking in the lap lane, but Open Swim is for anyone wanting to work out, swim laps or just have fun. LEARN TO SWIM

Interested in learning to swim? Sammons Park Indoor Pool offers swimming lessons the first four Saturdays of each month. These American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim courses range from basic water skills and decreasing fear of water to swim strokes and refinement. All classes are catered to the needs of the students. Classes are small, allowing for ample skillsbased learning time. Registration must be completed prior to attending these classes. 3+ First four Saturdays of every month 11:00 - 11:50am $50 (includes four 50-minute sessions)

FAMILY SWIM

The best thing about Sammons Indoor Pool is being able to swim all year long! Temple’s state of the art indoor pool is heated so you and your family can have fun splashing around, rain or shine. Ongoing Saturdays 1:30 - 2:50pm $1.50 punch/$3 day pass

THERAPEUTIC SWIM

Therapeutic Swim is great for those who are recovering from surgery, have joint or mobility limitations, medical conditions, or any special need that could benefit from therapy in relaxing, warm water. This is a non-instructed time meant for therapeutic reasons and is not intended for recreation. Monday - Friday 1:00 - 3:00pm $1.50 punch / $3 day pass

AQUA ARTHRITIS

Relieve tension and pain from arthritis while increasing flexibility and range of motion. This unique class utilized the warm water’s natural resistance, while performing a range of motion exercises to help you feel your best. You must be 18 or older to participate in instructed classes unless approved by management. 18+ Ongoing Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 10:30 - 11:30am $2.50 punch/$4 day pass

SENIOR OPEN SWIM

The Water Safety Instructor course trains instructor candidates to teach all of the courses presented in the Swimming and Water Safety program to all age groups; all of the courses listed, plus Learn-to-Swim Levels 4-6 and Adult Swim. This certification is the gold standard and provides the most comprehensive training for swim instructors. During swim instructor certification training, you’ll learn how to help individuals enjoy their time in the water safely – and in a wide range of ways. We’ll focus on key areas that can help you succeed as an aquatics instructor.

HYDRO-FITNESS

Hydro-Fitness helps build strength and endurance while toning muscle in a low-impact environment. Leg workouts in the water emphasize your lower body as the water gives your submerged muscles up to 14 s the resistance of air! The harder you work, the more resistance you encounter. Add in a specialized upper body workout and it’s a total fitness package! You must be 18 or older to participate in instructed classes unless approved by Management. SWEATIN’ WITH THE OLDIES

Just keep movin’! Join Kathy “KP” Patterson as she leads these extremely popular exercise sessions designed especially for those with mobility issues or who have difficulty standing while exercising. Slow stretches and comfortable balance exercises, while seated or in contact with a chair, will help tone and strengthen muscles to increase mobility and flexibility. Gradual use of hand weights and stretch bands is also incorporated. Easily adaptable for those with physical limitations. Two convenient session s to choose from. TUESDAY ON THE TRAILS

Dust off your walking shoes and join us for some fresh air and friendly conversation! Each Tuesday morning take a guided trail walk on one of Temple’s many beautiful and inviting trails. Walking not only promotes physical activity and prevents stiffness, it stimulates your brain and aids in weight management. See you on the trails! RENTALS

Reservations can be made through the Parks and Recreation Administration Office by calling 254.298.5690. All rentals must be for a 2 hour minimum; time is whatever the renter chooses. Cancellations must be made prior to 48 hours of the rental date for refunds to be given. A $100 deposit is required and will be returned if the facility is left in good condition. If the building is not left clean, or if there is any kind of damage, the amount returned will be decided by the facilities manager.

Learn about the history and culture of Mexican Folklorico dancing! In this bilingual class for beginning and intermediate/advanced students (ages 7+), women and men will be invited to learn Mexican Folklorico steps and dances. Classes will be available by ability - to be determined by instructor. Students will be required to have hard soled shoes and a skirt. Masks will be required and online classes will be available in the event of a determined shut down. There will be a possibility for a public performance.
