Summer Camps Important information for all camps

• If there is not a specific registration deadline listed, registration will close at 5:00 PM on the Thursday prior to the Monday of camp, or once the camp is full, whichever comes first. Space is limited to a first come, first served basis. Registration after the stated deadline is based on Supervisor approval. • If the camp is full, you will be placed on a waiting list and contacted if space becomes available. Camp fees are a flat rate and are not pro-rated for days not attended. • Requests for refunds and transfers must be received by Thursday at 10:00 AM prior to the camp start date. Please check dates closely. Should you request a refund or transfer after the deadline has passed, we will make every effort to fill your space. If we are able to fill your space, you will receive a full refund. Unfortunately, we are unable to make any exceptions unless valid emergency or medical documentation can be provided. • What if my child needs special help to participate in a camp? We are happy to work with those who have special needs to ensure equal access to our recreation programs. Please visit our website at https://www.chicorec.com/forms-and-parentresources to learn more about our accommodation process.

CARD ONLY ADMINISTERS EMERGENCY LIFE-SAVING MEDICATION

If your child may need such medication, required paperwork must be returned to CARD at least two (2) business days prior to the start of camp. The medication administration packet is available on the CARD website at www.chicorec.com/ registration-forms.

Participant Expectations: • Be Safe (stay with the group, keep hands and feet to themselves, etc.) • Be Respectful (listen, follow directions, use appropriate language, etc.)

Participant Readiness: Is your child ready for camp?

• Be Responsible (use the restroom independently/no bathroom accidents, keep track of personal items, etc.)

Questions to Consider: • Can they meet the Participant Expectations? • Are they able to stay with the group and not run away when upset or overwhelmed? Our programs maintain set ratios and are not designed for one on one care. • Is your child overwhelmed with loud noises? Programs can be loud at times. • Is your child comfortable when you are not present? • Does your child warm up to new situations with new people?

Songwriting, Recording, and Performing!

Ever wanted to write your own song, play in a band, and even perform on stage? Well during this week-long camp, we will be doing just that! Musicians will learn how to turn their musical ideas into fully composed songs, how to record their music via Garageband, in addition how to collaborate with other musicians and bring that music to life on a stage. It is suggested that kids have some music experience, but it is not a requirement. There will be a lot to cover in just a few hours of class each morning, so be ready for a fast-paced musical learning experience. Our rockstars will not only go home with a recording of their songs, but will end the week with an outdoor performance to show off all their hard work! Please bring a small snack and drink to help your musician stay energized for their entire camp. Teacher Tori. CARD Community Center.

Online Camps In this fun series of Scratch Junior classes, we introduce students to the Scratch Junior platform. We will create a series of animations and games while learning about core coding concepts. For example, your child will learn loops, messaging, how to capture events in a game to take action, and a lot more. We will go from simple projects with different characters working independently, to connecting characters with complex actions. Your child will also get to apply their artistic skills to create their own sprites, tell stories, and share their math and science knowledge. Instructor: Create and Learn

NEW Roblox Coding Camp For students who already have some experiences with block based coding systems such as Scratch, Roblox Studio is a great next step. Here, through a combination of configuring and scripting/coding, your child can create their own game world using the built-in 3D design tool and coding the interactions with the world. Coding is done via Lua, a scripting language that is relatively easy to use. The course starts from simple coding concepts such as loop and conditional to get students familiar with the text-based coding, and gradually goes deeper to more advanced concepts such as variables, arrays, and more. It is entirely project based as we will be building fun games throughout. Instructor: Create and Learn
