2023-2024 BROADWAY SERIES ANNOUNCED

While we still have Moulin Rouge! and SIX to look forward to this season, our upcoming KeyBank Broadway Series is a spectacular mix of exciting new musicals and some new twists on beloved favorites. Let’s take a closer look at the first three shows coming to The Land next season (the next four will be in your Moulin Rouge! program). EASING ONTO THE CONNOR PALACE STAGE in October will be the muchloved reimagining of The Wizard of Oz — The Wiz. First performed on Broadway in 1974, The Wiz won seven Tony Awards including Best Musical. Many will remember the 1978 movie adaption that starred Diana Ross. This highly anticipated revival of The Wiz is a pre-Broadway tour, the first of its kind in 40 years. The powerhouse design team includes Academy Award winner Hannah Beachler (Black Panther, Beyonce’s “Lemonade”), Emmy Award winner and two-time Academy Award nominee Sharen Davis (Ray, Dreamgirls), Barrymore Award winner Ryan J. O’Gara (Thoughts of a Colored Man) and Academy Award winner Mia Neal (Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom).

THE LEGENDARY MUSIC OF BOB DYLAN takes center stage October/November in the beautiful production of Girl from the North Country. With a book by Irish playwright Conor McPherson, this show debuted in London in 2017, winning the Olivier Award for Best Musical. Simon Hale’s reimagining of 20 Bob Dylan songs — including “Forever Young,” “Hurricane,” “Slow Train Coming,” and “Like a Rolling Stone” — won the 2022 Tony Award for Best Orchestrations. IN JANUARY, WE SAY “HELLLLOOOOO!” TO MRS. DOUBTFIRE.

Based on the 1993 Robin Williams film of the same name, Mrs. Doubtfire opened on Broadway back in 2020, bringing everyone’s favorite Scottish granny to the world of musical theater. Don’t worry, dearies, your favorite movie moments appear on stage … but as you’ve never seen them before! Directed by four-time Tony Award winner Jerry Zaks, this heart-warming and family-friendly comedy is just what we’ll need to chase away the winter blahs. SPOTLIGHT ON The District

NEW MARQUEES ON THE WAY

Back in October 2022, we unveiled the next phase of our neighborhood transformation. Designed to bring the grandeur and beauty of our 100-year-old, fully-restored theaters outdoors, this next phase features dazzling new theater marquees and technology upgrades for elements installed during the original phase of the transformation. With the old facades being removed, work can now officially begin on our new marquees.

CHEERS TO THEATER

Guests can say ‘sip, sip, hooray’ as they enjoy a drink at a PSQ District restaurant before taking their seat for the big show. From the perfect pint at Parnell’s Irish Pub to the show-inspired drinks list at District and the twists on classic cocktails at Republic and Bin 216, visitors can set the stage for a great night out in the theater district. Nonalcoholic beers and mocktails are also available at certain venues.

SPRING STAYCATION

For guests and families embracing staycation options this spring and summer, the Crowne Plaza Cleveland is located in the heart of the PSQ District and offers ease for exploring Downtown Cleveland and enjoying performances at Playhouse Square. Just steps away from the theaters, the boutique-style hotel boasts delicious meal and drink options at Ghost Light Restaurant and Lounge, a newly remodeled indoor swimming pool and an on-site fitness center, in addition to its numerous rooms and suites, some with views of the stunning GE Chandelier.

SPOTLIGHT ON Jump Back Ball

Jump Back Ball, the annual fundraiser hosted by Partners, Playhouse Square’s young professionals group, raises funds to benefit Playhouse Square’s education programs, including sensory-friendly performances. This year’s theme, “A Night on the High Seas,” had party-goers dressed as pirates, mermaids, parrots, Peter Pan and Captain Hook, or in their favorite cocktail and black-tie attire for an evening of swashbuckling fun at the KeyBank State Theatre. Live music was provided by Andrew McManus and Tessa Thistlewaite, Faction Cleveland, and DJ Red-I. Caricature artists, photo opportunities, casino games, an expansive raffle, a silent auction, and a prize pull added to the fun.

2023 Jump Back Ball Fun Facts:

Raised a net income of $102,234!

There were 700 attendees.

125 volunteers spent 1,145 hours building and creating the event’s décor.

16 ft – height of the sunken pirate ship displayed in the KeyBank State Theatre.

GIVING BACK to Playhouse Square

Playhouse Square is a community-based not-for-profit organization which depends upon philanthropic support from individuals, foundations, and corporations. More than $7 million dollars must be raised annually to help Playhouse Square meet its mission of operating and maintaining the historic theaters, expanding arts education outreach, and investing in the community through area development. The following are charitable opportunities which support Playhouse Square:

Donor Circle

Donor Circle is a program for individuals who give an annual gift of $600 or more. Donor Circle members receive advance access to tickets, prime seating for Broadway and other performances, and a personal ticket concierge. At select giving levels, members have access to the private RJF Presidents’ Club for dinner and bar service, plus reserved, first-floor parking in the Playhouse Square garage. Companies can also contribute via the Corporate Donor Circle program and receive community recognition, client entertainment and employee rewards. Contact: Mary Winchester, 216-640-8412

Foundation Support

Corporate, community and family foundations and government agencies like the Ohio Arts Council and Cuyahoga County Arts and Culture provide Playhouse Square with annual operating support and funding for education programs. Contact: Cheryl Helden, 216-640-8406

Friends Circle

Friends Circle is a program for individuals who give an annual gift of $50 to $599. Members receive advance access to tickets, discounts, special recognition and invitations to private events throughout the year. Contact: Victoria Gray, 216-640-8417

Partners

Partners is the official young professionals group of Playhouse Square. Members enjoy unique opportunities to network, volunteer, socialize and fine-tune their leadership skills. Young professionals (ages 21-40) can join Partners for as little as $50 per year. Contact: Sarah Stengel, 216-640-8408

Leading Ladies

In the spirit of fun and celebration, Leading Ladies is designed to engage women by providing the opportunity to connect with each other through a shared passion for Playhouse Square and its notfor-profit mission. Members are invited to four exclusive events throughout the year, such as pre-show cocktail receptions, special guest speaker luncheons, and behind-the-scenes experiences. Endowment and Planned Giving

Share your love for Playhouse Square when you plan for the future. TERRI DIXON (Iowa Housewife) hails from the Maryland suburbs of the Washington, DC area. Having called NYC and the Pocono Mountains home, she now lives in Naples, Florida. Credits include: Broadway, Smokey Joe’s Café; National Tours, My One & Only, The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas with Ann Margret; Regional Theatre, Always, Patsy Cline (The Wick Theatre, New Harmony Theatre), Drowsy Chaperone (Alhambra Theatre), Smokey Joe’s Café (Maine State Theatre, Florida Studio Theatre), Waiting For The Moon (World Premiere of Frank Wildhorn’s Production at Lenape Performing Arts Center) and many others. VALERIE FAGAN (Earth Mother) is thrilled to be a part of the Menopause The Musical® family. On Broadway, Val was an original cast member of The Addams Family, appearing as both Alice and Grandma opposite Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth (Original Cast Album). A Forbidden Broadway veteran, Val originated its award-winning 25th Anniversary Edition: Rude Awakening (NY Drama Desk Award: Outstanding Revue, Original Cast Album). Valerie’s extensive musical theatre credits include: Aldonza in the National Tour of Man Of La Mancha and Fantine in the First National Tour of Les Misérables. Also a writer, Val co-wrote the award-winning musical Six Women With Brain Death (Music Theatre International) and Goin’ To The Chapel (Miracle or 2

Theatrical Licensing). One of Val’s greatest honors was as soloist for NBC, singing “God Bless America” starting the New York City Marathon. Recently, Val created a Drama Program for Special Needs Adults for Matthew’s Ministry. Love to family and much thanks to The New Theatre.

DONNA J. HUNTLEY

(Professional Woman) is an Ohio native who has enjoyed playing Professional Woman and Soap Star across the nation off and on since 2004 after completing world tours as a Guest Entertainer with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. With numerous regional commercials and TV appearances to her credit, some favorite Broadway, OffBroadway and Regional theatre credits include: Lena Horne: The Ladyand Her Music, Shadow Box (Beverly), Our Lady Of 121st Street (Inez), Hairspray (Motor Mouth Mable), Nunsense (Sister Herbert), Chicago (Matron Mama Morton), and Barnum (Joyce Heth). Winner of a Presidential Award for Best Overseas USO Tour, Donna worked with Richard Pryor Here and Now, co-wrote and recorded with Atlantic Records as a member of Company B and solo with Sleath Records in Holland. She performed with The Platters, Ben Vereen, Mary Wilson of the Supremes, Latin Superstars El Puma and Chayanne to name a few. “It is truly an honor to be a part of the Menopause The Musical ® family. To bring joy and laughter to our audiences while building lasting friendships and sisterhood on and off the stage continues to be a wonderful experience.” Donna is a proud member of Actors’ Equity Association.

KIMBERLY VANBIESBROUCK (Soap Star/Dance Captain/ Choreography Supervisor) has had the great pleasure of performing Soap Star in Menopause the Musical® in theatres across

the country. Her first production was in her hometown of Detroit, where Menopause The Musical® was awarded the honor of longestrunning musical in the city’s history and Best Ensemble Cast. Currently she resides in Chicago, where some of her other credits include, Motherhood The Musical, Judy Garland in Beyond The Rainbow, Forbidden Broadway, Sweet Charity, Always, Patsy Cline, A Chorus Line, and Cat On A Hot Tin Roof Kimberly is also a certified yoga, barre and kickboxing instructor. She feels extremely blessed and would like to take this opportunity to thank GFour Productions for bringing her back into the Menopause The Musical® family. ASHLEY BROWN (Company Manager) is an Ohio native who has spent the last thirteen years performing and working professionally in New York City. Previous credits include Broadway tours Annie, Jekyll & Hyde, and Finding Neverland. Off Broadway: It’s Just Sex and Girls Night! The Musical. Ashley is very excited to be joining GFour Productions and this longstanding and sensational production of Menopause The Musical® as Company Manager. DOMINIQUE NADEAU (Stage Manager) is thrilled to be a part of the Menopause The Musical® tour! She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Studies and Dramaturgy from Webster University in St. Louis, MO and is currently working towards her M.Ed. in Drama in Education from Trinity College Dublin in Dublin, Ireland. She is the creator of the Lisle Park District’s Theatre Program and has been the Artistic Director there for eight years. Dominique also taught Fine and Performing Arts full-time for three years at Chicago Public Schools. Her recent dramaturgy credits include the Women’s Voices Festival (Mad Cow Theatre, Orlando, FL), Mary Poppins (Drury Lane Theatre, Oakbrook Terrace), and Stick Fly (Writers Theatre, Glencoe, IL).

ROBERTA B. WALL (Assistant Music Supervivsor) first stepped on stage with Menopause The Musical® in the original L.A. production, which opened in 2003. Since then, she has toured with the show in the role of Iowa Housewife, performing coast to coast. She was brought on as vocal director for Menopausia, the Spanish version of the show in 2013, and has continued on as National Asst. Musical Director. Her other performing credits include Broadway – original casts of Sister Act and Leap Of Faith. National Tours – Sister Act, Beauty And The Beast. Regional – Sacramento Music Circus, Alliance Theatre in Atlanta, Laguna Playhouse, Long Beach C.L.O., La Mirada C.L.O. Recordings include the cast albums of Lady Be Good, Pardon My English and Oh, Kay! on the Gershwin record label, Roxbury Records. Her eclectic career has also included singing Doo Wop with the group “Double Date” at Universal Studios Tour and Disneyland in Los Angeles and

appearing as a special guest on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.

TERI ADAMS (Choreography Supervisor) has been with Menopause The Musical® since 2006, where she first played the Iowa Housewife at The American Heartland Theatre in her hometown of Kansas City. Teri serves as MTM’s National Choreography Supervisor as well as the National Tour Dance Captain. Regional credits include Blues In The Night, Steel Magnolias, I Love You Because (American Heartland Theatre), Lend Me A Tenor, Baby, 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Great Plains Theatre), Ruthless!, Dirty Blonde, The Great American Trailer Park Musical, and the World premiere of Gregg Coffin’s Rightnext To Me (Unicorn Theatre), Footloose (Starlight Theater), Church Basement Ladies (Merry-Go-Round Playhouse), Motherfreakinghood The Musical (Fishtank Theatre). Teri has been a two-time featured soloist at The Kennedy Center (D.C.), and has appeared on NBC’s The Today Show as a cast member of Menopause The Musical ®. She holds a BFA in Theatre from Emporia State University and is a long time member of Actors’ Equity Association. Adams is an avid sports fan and chocolate cake enthusiast. She lives in the Kansas City area with her husband and her dog. Cheers!

JEANIE LINDERS (Creator) is a passionate voice for a generation of women facing more than hot flashes. Presented with the Veteran Feminist Medal of Honor by Gloria Steinem, she is the creator of a theatrical brand that has funded women’s education, housing and programs from New Orleans to Kenya and Ghana to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition among many others. Ms. Linders’s work in entertainment and producing spans three decades including theatre, multi stage music festivals and celebrity-driven events. She works as a marketing and development consultant for playwrights and theatrical facilities nationally including The Center for Arts & Inspiration in Hendersonville, NC.
