City of Pensacola Government
WELCOME
MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR
This year I had the incredible opportunity to be selected as your City Parks and Recreation Director. Prior to becoming director, I served as General Manager for Osceola Golf Course, the city’s only municipal golf course for the past 18 years. Outdoor recreation is near and dear to my heart. Prior to working with the City of Pensacola, I served as Founding Director of First Tee Gulf Coast, a non-profit organization that develops youth and their passion for the wonderful sport of golf and its core values. I also played professionally on the PGA Tour playing in two U.S. Open championships and 26 other PGA Tour tournaments around the country. I am honored to be your Parks and Recreation Director. I believe that having quality parks, public spaces and athletic facilities is a vital part of any community. They all play a big role in the quality of life of a city. The core strength and foundation of a city comes from its community, much of which is ignited by its members in its parks and recreation system. With 93 city-owned parks, 10 resource centers, two pools, a municipal golf course, a tennis center, an outdoor pursuits center, and multiple athletic complexes our goal is to ensure that “play” is accessible and affordable to all citizens and visitors of Pensacola. Playing and engaging in activities with others can also be a huge asset or ice breaker for building relationships. Enclosed in the Playbook you’ll find something for the entire family to enjoy, from youth and adult athletics, holiday camps and special events to bring our community closer together. We’ve also taken an interpersonal approach to spotlight your city parks division to help you put names to the individuals who are responsible for safe tree removal and maintenance of the playgrounds in our neighborhoods that we all love and enjoy daily. Read more on our Parks Spotlight on page five and also be on the lookout for registration dates for your favorite winter sports like girls volleyball and youth soccer! I hope that you all enjoy the exciting programs and activities highlighted here in our activity guide, The Playbook, which is published three times a year. It’s the space where we get to reconnect with everyone each season to encourage you to stay active, healthy and fulfill our motto to “Get out and Play”! Sincerely, Adrian Stills
