ACCREDITATION The

Normal Department is accredited by the

State Board of Education. The two·year course leads to a Standard Elementary Certificate. This Certificate will be granted to those students only whose individual achievement is satisfactory. The Normal gives a full school year of four quarters. The regular academic year is divided into two semesters which are accepted as equivalent to the three state-accredited quarters. Students may begin any of the regular curricula during the summer session or may continue a currI­ culum already begun.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS The Summer Session is open to all students qual­ ified to pursue the subject to advantage. Students

who desire

to

obtain regular

normal

credit toward a diploma for their work must be graduates of an accredited high school or its equiv­ alent.

RENEWAL OF SECOND GRADE CERTIFICATES Holders of Limited Elementary Certificates may have them renewed by attendance at the normal school for the full summer session.

REGISTRATION Regular registration will be held Monday, June 13th. EXPENSES A tultlon fee of $2.00 per credit hour is re­ quired of all persons attending the Summer Ses­ sion_

ROOM AND BOARD The girls' dormitory will be open for occupancy. The room rent for the summer is $20.00.

The

rooms are furnished with a bedstead, mattress, dress­ ing table and student table. Whatever else is need­ ed, the students furnish_ Board can be had at reasonable price.

COURSES OFFERED The number of Courses available for credit will bl' determined by the demand. Other courses will be pro\·ided if five or more request it. Educatioll 3-Educatiollal Psychology This course deals with the psychological principles involved in education.-Five quarter credits. Education 5-Educatiollal Measurements A course dealing with the methods of scientific measurement of children's general ability and class­ room achievement, the knowledge and skill neces­ sary to apply scientific methods to the study and improvements of teaching.

Students will be given

an opportunity of testing pupils, scoring papers and interpreting results.- Three quarter credits.

translation.- Three quarter credits. Fine Arts 1, 2-Normal Art Our aim is to develop a certain amount of tech­

nical skill in handling the ordinary problems of the grades. This includes freehand drawing from nature, still life and figure, simple landscape composition, applied design, weaving and construction, stick printing, clay modeling, paper cutting, needle and raffia work, booklet making, stenciling, poster making, freehand persepctive cardboard construction, modeling and decorating of ornaments, and the use of pencil, crayon, charcoal, water color, oil and enamel as mediums. -3 to 6 quarter credits. Health Education I-Hygiene This course centers around the hygiene of the school child and includes a study of hygienic school equipment and environment as well. It also aims to make the school a center of influence for health work in the community.-Three quarter credits.
