BIG PUSH REQUIRED TILL THE END OF THE SEASON
Words from the Chairman - Carl Heslop
Quality prevailed in our last outing at the pavilions with the London Lions showing what money and talent can do to a team when they are in full flow. I can accept being beat by the better team on the day and some of the basketball played by the lions was exceptional and they really have set the standard for us all to chase.
I thought our two debutants did well and tried their hardest to get into the game. Otas with 12 rebounds showed what he was all about and when Ralph finds his range, we can cause teams a few problems.
We however struggled to cause Bristol problems on Friday night with a lacklustre performance on the road in the local derby. Bristol were well controlled and took their chances when they came against a scrappy Patriots who need to be a lot more efficient and clinical today.
Facing Cheshire at home for the first time this season, we will really need to impose ourselves early and not give teams the impetus to control the game. Cheshire are known for grinding games out and if we are serious about the playoffs we need to show up and take the game to them. Facing them at home in the final stages of the season could be crucial and we need to use the pavilions to our advantage.
Off the court we have been finalising our preparations for our U16s development team’s participation in an international French tournament. I’m really excited to take them away to play overseas in their first season which will be an unbelievable experience for them all.
We have also in the final stages of announcing our academy trials and open days if your child is interested in being part of the Patriots academy this September. The fact the city will once again have a dedicated basketball academy with a strong educational partner is something I am immensely proud of. Under the guidance of Joe Hart, I believe this is going to really grow both in size and quality and be a real jewel in the Patriots crown.
In closing I would like to celebrate all the mothers coming to the game today and look forward to giving you all a great day of basketball. Being someone who was guided and influenced greatly by my mother, I look forward to seeing so many mums enjoying themselves and we salute the positive impact you have on all your children with you at the game today.
Its Mother’s Day so let’s do it for the mums!

Welcome to today’s game against Cheshire Phoenix. This is Cheshire’s first visit to the pavilions this season.
Last week we certainly were put to the sword by a very good London Lions. While it was a heavy defeat, we must put into perspective that the London team has been put together this season to be competitive in European competition the 7Days Eurocup and they showed exactly what that takes.
They put on a real basketball clinic of the highest performance and displayed why they have been sweeping all before them.
I was disappointed with some of the little aspects of the game that we didn’t handle well, and it was a bit of a baptism of fire for the team and especially our new players.
We cannot worry too much about that result as London are on a whole different level to every other team in the BBL. There are some good teams in the BBL but London are far more superior than any other team.
Having said that, our game against Bristol on Friday was even more disappointing and given the result we have even more work to do if we are to get ourselves out of this slump.
Right now, it feels like nothing is going our way, but only we can put this right, and we must keep working hard as a group and even more importantly for each other and the wins will come!
It has been a frustrating period, but nobody is more frustrated than the team. The last two games have knocked the team and the confidence, but we are still in a pretty good position to make the end of season playoffs which has been one of our goals for the season!
Cheshire will be another tough game for us, but I’m hoping for a real positive reaction from the team this evening and that things start to come together!
Welcome to the coaching staff, players, and support teams from Cheshire for these BBL championship game.
ENJOY THE GAME.

MATCH REPORT
The London Lions dedication to the BBL Championship is to be admired.
After a successful 7 Days EuroCup game mid-week in Poland, the team travelled to Manchester to beat the Giants on Friday. And before continuing their European campaign next week, they drove south to take on the Plymouth City Patriots.
While the home fans hoped the extended travel might have given the Patriots a chance, the Lions were focused on the task in hand. Sam Dekker proved this on his opening basket, throwing down an alley-oop of a Miye Oni lead pass to get the game going.
Outside of an early 4-2 scoreline, which saw Plymouth newcomer Ralph Bissainthe get his first points for the side, London never trailed and built a commanding lead by the second quarter. It was a balanced attack, with six Lions reaching double figures, and nobody needing to play 26 minutes. Plymouth’s Rashad Hassan battled all game, but the Patriots struggled against London’s size.
It’s not often you see a dunk create fireworks. Shout out to mascot Pat The Dog for this jam.
The home team’s mascot Pat The Dog gave the Plymouth faithful something to cheer for between the third and fourth quarter with a big trampoline dunk. But the cool head of Jordan Taylor didn’t let the visitor become distracted by the theatrics, as London doubled Plymouth’s final score.
GRAPHIC DESIGN CREATIVE HERO
How do you choose the right people to create your brand, conceive your next ad campaign, or design packaging for your new product? There are numerous agencies and freelancers in the Plymouth area alone, many producing strong creative work. Clearly, you need to check their portfolios and fees. But, crucially, you also need to know how they work and why they design the way they do.
Great design is as much about function, as it is about being beautiful. My approach is to understand your plans, assess the challenges you may face, and find effective solutions to realise your goals. Whatever the job, I aim to produce design that increases recognition in your target audience, tells your story and prompts customers to choose you over your competition.
Just speak to my clients and see what they have to say.
