FINAL PLAY OFF PUSH REQUIRED
Words from the Chairman - Carl Heslop
We barely draw breath as we are back home at the Pavilions following a much-needed win at Surrey Sports Park last night. In a game that went back and forwards in double digits the guys dug in to get the win over the line. With games running out it was a much-needed victory as the club looks to secure a second play off place.
Sharing the points was key and if we are to get further points this season, we need to ensure we have performances across the roster. Although a huge performance from Deuce last night set the tone, it was support from RB, Elvisi, James and Ty who got us over the line. Although the guys will be jaded today, we need every ounce of the energy to get a result against a very powerful Caledonia team who are still buzzing from their epic Trophy win.
I would also like to thank our amazing fans who travelled again to Surrey to cheer the team on. I’m really humbled and proud of our fans who really put the miles in and gave the team the lift they required on the road to get the win. Always appreciated and cement your place as the best fans in the league.
I’m gutted to not be there today as I’m in France with our U16s youth team, but we managed to all squeeze around Joe Harts laptop last night and watch the game. As nail biting as it was it was great to see the team do the business with all our youth team cheering them on.
Our trip to France has been brilliant for our U16s team, getting them to experience a different culture and language and battle against a much higher level of basketball. We have competed against the very best from Canada, Belgium and France playing against U18 national champions who have shown a different level and style of basketball to the UK. As our youth programmes grow, we want our international trips to be the norm, representing our city, our club and raising the aspirations of our players to aspire to play at the very highest level.
Today we will also be celebrating our main sponsor Portcullis Legals who have been a great support in our second season as Patriots. Trevor worth is a big supporter of sport in the city, and we have been proud to have been promoting their brand this season on our kits. Thank you Trevor and Portcullis and we look forward to a continued partnership as both our organisations grow.

UNIT 6, ST STEPHENS PLACE, RIDGEWAY, PLYMOUTH PL7 2ZNCOACH PJ A WORD FROM
Welcome to today’s game against BBL Trophy champions, the Caledonia Gladiators. The Gladiators are coached be Gareth Murray who in his first season as head coach has put together a very talented team that are fighting for a top four finish.
Last night we finally where able to break our losing streak with a very hard-fought win against the Surrey Scorchers. This was a game that we had to win if we are to keep pushing for an end of season playoff spot.
It was a much better team performance. The commitment and effort were evident and even when we went behind by double figures, we should some real grit to claw ourselves back into the game.
Once again, we had a great travelling contingent of supporters who really helped us get over the line in this one, so I thank you for that!
Rashad led all scorers, but it was a good team effort to get him the ball where he is most effective close to the basket. Big plays from RB and Ty in the second half kept the scoreboard ticking over. But the biggest clutch play was made by our captain Elvisi down the stretch in the fourth quarter that took the game away from Surrey. This game was big for us in so many ways.
Now we have a very short turn around for todays which is not ideal, but I guess coming off the back of a win makes it a little more palatable!
Welcome to the coaching staff, players, and support teams from Caledonia for this BBL championship game.
ENJOY THE GAME.

MATCH REPORT
Leicester Riders kept their unbeaten streak against the Plymouth City Patriots with a 99-85 win at the Pavilions.
Zach Jackson led Leicester with 24 points and six rebounds, helped by 22 from Marc Loving, as the Riders claimed their 42nd win in a row against Plymouth. Elvisi Dusha had 19 for the Patriots, but defeat, coupled with a Newcastle win, will be cause for concern for the team from the south-west.
Both teams executed in the opening plays, but the Patriots took the early initiative as scores from Elvisi Dusha and Rashad Hassan gave the hosts an early 11-8 lead. The Riders quietly and efficiently responded with a 9-0 run, with the primary source of points coming through back door cuts and free throws to take a 17-11 cushion when a mid-range jumper from the elbow from Ralph Bissainthe stemmed the bleeding.
The pace of the game was furious, but it favoured the deeper Leicester side, as they were able to establish a double-digit advantage nearing the end of the first, which was cut to 25-16 with less than a minute left thanks to a three from Bissainthe.
As the second quarter progressed, the Riders’ lead grew as Kimbal MacKenzie drilled a three from the top, and despite a thunderous slam from James Hawthorne Jr., the visitors kept putting points on the board, leading 35-21 with 7:10 remaining in the half.
Slowly but surely, the Patriots hit back, reducing the deficit to as little as five points as they were fighting for every loose ball, attacking the basket and putting Leicester in the penalty. And as a result, the sizeable double-digit advantage that the Riders enjoyed was reduced to 46-39 at the half.
However, Leicester restored their double-digit cushion once more, as they attacked the rim and hit their free throws as part of a 10-0 run to take a 65-51 lead with 4:20 left in the third. The Patriots were able to shrink the deficit to single figures towards the end of the third, but the Riders still held a manageable lead heading into the fourth.
Any hopes of a comeback though from the hosts were dashed as the Riders maintained their doubledigit lead throughout the final period to strengthen their top-four dreams.
Match report by Pablo CheeksJust as the quarter came to a close, the relative newcomers to Plymouth showed their heart. Otas Iyekekpolor checked in and immediately grabbed a defensive rebound. Up the other end Bissainthe found his teammate on the attack, who was fouled and hit both free throws. Bissainthe then stole the ball and got a layup to go. And it was Lanipekun who made a big three to pull within four.
Leicester’s Mackenzie was fouled on the three-point line before the buzzer went, and he hit all three, but Plymouth had closed the gap to five before that. Iyekekpolor and Lanipekun kept this going to start the fourth and within 90 seconds the Patriots trailed by just three.
It was a competitive back and forth down the stretch as Iyekekpolor and Loving traded the lead with threes. Hassan got a two to cut the deficit to one, and got a great block to give Plymouth a chance to go for the win. But a clutch defensive stop from Adekoya saw him get a hand in Dang Akodo’s pocket to take away the ball.
This put Leicester on the line, where Mackenzie sunk both, so Plymouth needed a three, which was snuffed out by good Riders defence.
GRAPHIC DESIGN CREATIVE HERO
How do you choose the right people to create your brand, conceive your next ad campaign, or design packaging for your new product? There are numerous agencies and freelancers in the Plymouth area alone, many producing strong creative work. Clearly, you need to check their portfolios and fees. But, crucially, you also need to know how they work and why they design the way they do.
Great design is as much about function, as it is about being beautiful. My approach is to understand your plans, assess the challenges you may face, and find effective solutions to realise your goals. Whatever the job, I aim to produce design that increases recognition in your target audience, tells your story and prompts customers to choose you over your competition.
Just speak to my clients and see what they have to say.
