PLYMOUTH PUBLIC SCHOOLS | 2016-2017Â FULL YEAR REPORT
SOCIAL MEDIA REPORT
OurOurSocial Media Initiative Social Media Initiative In September 2015, the Plymouth Public Schools launched a social media initiative over 4 platforms - Facebook, Twitter, Instagram & Google+. As more and more people use social media as a means of news and communication, it was important for the us to enhance our communication channels with parents and the community on these platforms. Our goal with our social media initiative is to communicate our mission as a school district, to share what our educators are teaching INSIDE the classrooms, as well as give immediate updates and important announcements to our families and the community on a consistent and timely basis. In addition, to become a social media role model for our students and to show the value of what social media can do appropriately and safely. For the 2016-2017 school year, our goal has been for each individual school to have their own Facebook and Twitter pages and to consistently communicate important news, announcements to their families and school community. The feedback we have been receiving has been positive. Parents and families are engaging on our social media pages with comments on our posts, sharing our photos, and showing their support. We will continue to monitor engagement and conduct surveys on what other sources of information families and the community would like to see from the Plymouth Public Schools.
76% of communications leaders identified school or district Facebook account(s) as a method that is most effective for communicating with parents today.**
*TechValidate Survey, 2016.
Social media was named the second most effective aspect of community engagement, right behind district websites.*
⅓ of community members say that they use school or district Facebook or other social media accounts to learn about what is happening in local schools in their community.**
**Project Tomorrow, Speak Up Survey, 2016.
Please find helpful analytics for our district platforms in this report, as well as, additional social media goals for the 2016-2017 school year.
