Kiss the Clichés goodbye this Valentine’s Day... The flood of chocolates in red heart boxes, and numerous orders of rose bouquets and restaurant phones ringing off their hooks announces the arrival of a holiday made for lovers. Like birthdays, Valentine’s Day becomes repetitive after a few years. If fancy dinners aren’t your cup of tea anymore, pour your eyes over some of these charming ideas that will battle the season’s predictability and make this Valentine’s Day one for the books! o ensure that this Valentine’s Day cuts above the rest we’ve compiled a list of quirky date ideas that are sure to score you points in the creativity department, and with your other half! So get planning, becuase after all, what is romance without a little adventure?
As the saying goes, love is in the air! There are a number of ways you and your honey can experience adventure through the air, and I don’t mean hopping on a plane. Hot air balloons are the carriages of love this season, and they allow you and your other half to experience the great blue yonder in a unique manner. Take in the breathtaking scenery at a slower, more relaxed pace and fall in love all over again. Or why not plan a more low key date, fresh with new promise of intimacy and romance. Gazing at the night sky from your favourite spot, holding hands and leaning in each other’s arms can be one of the most memorable moments with your loved one, and throw in a midnight picnic basket and some champagne; this date will surely be one that you won’t easily forget!
Every culture celebrates the day of love in their own unique manner. For instance, in Japan, women give men chocolates on February 14th. On the other hand, some parts in England serve buns baked with caraway seeds and raisins. Check out the lovely traditions different cultures have to offer and incorporate them into your date night for a truly unique experience! 8

As we all know, a lot of people dismiss Valentine’s as a day where cheesiness reigns supreme, so why not shrug off the corny ideas and plan something creative and original; be a tourist in your own home town! Plan a few touristy activities that you and your partner have never gotten around to experiencing, and don’t be embarrassed to take a bucket load of pictures while visiting these attractions. For a more hearty date night, gather a bunch of your friends at someone’s house for a stay at home group date and split the duties! For instance, men buy the flowers, cook and serve dinner to the women, while the women plan games, decorate or provide gifts (baked goods are very popular!). Keep in mind that if your party consists of singles and couples, you may want to ensure that there is an even number of single men and women so that no one ends up feeling like a third wheel!
Another interesting date night idea is a couple’s massage! Release the tension and stress together with a couple’s massage package at a local spa or indulge yourself and your better half to a full, luxurious spa day.

Take this as an opportunity to find out if there’s some overlap between the two of yours. Maybe you both want to go skydiving or paragliding or maybe only one of you want to, but the other one is game to join in. Either way, tackling a bucket list item together guarantees an out of the ordinary Valentine’s Day.

A&M Security Ltd are celebrating their 30th year in Business A&M
Security is a local family run business founded in 1985 by husband and wife team Jerry & Elaine Laniewski. The company was founded and run from an office in Woodford until the company went limited in 2010. At this point the Company was taken over by eldest son Daniel Laniewski and A&M Security moved to a purpose built office and warehouse in Bell Close, Plympton. Daniel said “keeping the office in Plympton where I grew up and where the company was founded was very important to me, when the unit came up in Newnham I jumped at the chance to secure our future and ensure we had a commercial premises in our area where I grow up and the company had been based for so long.” A&M Security are the largest independent security company in Plympton and have a large domestic and commercial base built around a reputation for excellent workmanship and great customer service. This is highlighted in their ever growing maintenance program with a customer base throughout Devon and Cornwall. Easy Chocolate Cupcakes Ingredients
• 1300g dark chocolate, broken into chunks. • 200g self-raising flour • 200g light muscovado sugar, plus 3 tbsp extra • 6 tbsp cocoa • 150ml sunflower oil, plus a little extra for greasing • 284ml pot soured cream • 2 eggs • 1 tsp vanilla extract
Method
1. Heat oven to 180C/fan 160C/gas 4 and line a 10-hole muffin tin with paper cases. Whizz the chocolate into small pieces in a food processor. In the largest mixing bowl you have, tip in the flour, sugar, cocoa, oil, 100ml soured cream, eggs, vanilla and 100ml water. Whisk everything together with electric beaters until smooth, then quickly stir in 100g of the whizzed-up chocolate bits. Divide between the 10 cases, then bake for 20 mins until a skewer inserted comes out clean (make sure you don’t poke it into a chocolate chip bit). Cool on a wire rack. recipe from bbcgoodfood.com 2. To make the icing, put the remaining chocolate bits, soured cream and 3 tbsp sugar in a small saucepan. Heat gently, stirring, until the chocolate is melted and you have a smooth icing. Chill in the fridge until firm enough to swirl on top of the muffins, then tuck in.
