The #RACorner BACHA RA Conference We are very fortunate to be hosting the Boston Area College Housing Association’s (BACHA’s) annual RA conference! Bridgewater and Residence Life will be hosting approximately 400 RAs from the Boston Area. Many of you have been at this conference before and have even presented at it. This is a mandatory part of your RA position so be sure to put the date in your planner right away! We will be talking a lot more about this during training and throughout the fall. The date is Saturday, October 20, 2012

RA Staff Summer Greetings! Hey everyone! I am going to be a new RA in East Hall! Cannot wait to start this journey with all of you! I just recently arrived from my 2 weeks vacation in the Dominican Republic with my family. I always go every year for about 2 or 3 weeks. It's always great to spend some time with my family that I hardly see and to just relax and have fun! The Picture I was attached with this is a traditional Dominican dish! Although, I am back to reality so in the meantime I work full time at the Randolph Showcase movie theater as a customer service representative! So if anyone comes to see a movie at this particular movie theater, come and say hi! Hope everyone is enjoying their vacation and see you all soon! :) - Tina Mata Hey everybody! I hope your summer is going well. Tia and I have been busy in the apartments and I have been driving the bus as well for the summer. There are a lot of changes on campus you will be excited to see and we look forward to everyone coming back for training! - Ryan Ford Hey everyone! I hope summer has been treating all of you well. I’ve been here on campus, working in ResLife and living in the Student Apartments. I’ve also seen the new roof on Miles and DiNardo go up the past month or two and watched progress on Weygand hall. It’s been a busy summer here on campus with construction and with all the questions students and parents are calling in with. I’m super excited to see everybody in just a few weeks back here for training. I’m really excited to get to know the new RA’s as well as see all of you again! - Sarah Fabianski Hello RAs! I can’t believe how fast my summer has flown by. I hope that all of yours went by a little slower than mine did, but if not, I hope they were great nonetheless. It has been very interesting to see campus develop and change from all of the construction. I think you will all be pleasantly surprised. I am very excited to see you all soon and meet the new members of our staff. Enjoy what remains of your summer! - Tia LeBlanc

RA Training

It is officially that time of year when you need to start planning to come back for RA training. Here are some updates and highlights of training so you can best prepare: Return Dates: All RAs will return for training on Wednesday, August 22nd between 9am and 1pm (lunch is on your own) & SRAs by 11am to meet with RDs

**Everyone will go to the RLH Office in DiNardo to check-in and get your key or card coded, as well as find out your first meeting location. Camp Day: We will be going to Hopkinton State Park on Thursday, August 23rd , for the full day to do some camp type activities and get to know each other better. Items you may want to remember to bring are a bathing suit and towel, a change of clothes, sneakers, sunscreen, cash to rent a paddleboat or canoe, and any other items you need. Meals will be provided for you. Meals: All meals during training are provided for you and are mandatory except on Sunday, August 26th, because that is a day off and most RAs choose to leave campus for the day. You will still have access to the food your staff buys for breakfast, but plan to be on your own for that day of meals ( the dining halls are not available). Get Plenty of Rest: We can’t stress to you enough how important it is to take care of yourself during training and to get plenty of rest. It is easy to stay up until 2 or 3 in the morning talking with your friends and fellow RAs, but remember that you are expected to be awake and alert in all training sessions. Have fun during training and get all that you can out of training. Please contact your RD with any questions you may have
