Goat Cheese

Queso Lucía

is developed on a family farm of 107 acres located in the town of Juncos, Puerto Rico. It is the first goat cheese made on the Island that is in charge 100% of their production process: the raising of goats, the extraction of milk, the creation of cheese, distribution and branding. Its operation is led by María Teresa Juan Urrutia, who had the vision to transform what once was an historical family dairy farm, an industry typically led by men, into what is now the center of production of the only commercial goat cheese in the island. Queso Lucia without a doubt is the precursor of the small ruminants movement in Puerto Rico. Currently, their product is the first in its category to achieve all permits and certifications from the health department. This has enabled them to distribute at points of sale such as supermarkets, grocery stores, wholesale clubs, and family markets. In addition, they distribute Queso Lucia goat cheese to restaurants and coffee shops that use it as raw material for the preparation of their dishes. Queso Lucia is proud of the commitment and passion with which they elaborate the product that arrives at the table of each Puerto Rican consumer and is working towards someday exporting their goods and expand their operations. Urrutia Foods, Inc., parent company of Queso Lucía, leader and precursor of the organization and commercial development of the goat's milk industry in Puerto Rico, keeps us at the forefront and innovation of the goat cheese industry and promotes the consumption of high quality local products from our consumers.
