PHL captures gold in World Wushu Championships in Texas FORT WORTH, Texas – The Philippines ended its campaign in the 16th World Wushu Championships with six medals, including one gold from Mark Lester Ragay, Mark Anthony and Vincent Ventura in the men’s Taolu Duilian event, at Forth Worth Convention Center in Texas, USA on Monday. The Philippines also bagged four silver medals courtesy of Agatha Wong (women’s Taolu-Taijiquan), Jenifer Kilapo (women’s Sanda 48kg), Arnel Roa Mandal (men’s Sanda 52kg) and Clemente Tabugara Jr. (men’s Sanda 65kg), and a bronze from Russel Diaz (men’s Sanda 48kg) to finish seventh overall. China topped the medal table with 15 golds while Vietnam was second with five golds, three silvers and three bronzes. Macau placed third with five golds, two silvers and four bronzes followed by Hong Kong (3-2-3), Singapore (2-3-2) and Malay-

sia (1-7-4). Indonesia finished eighth with one gold, three silvers and seven bronzes while Chinese Taipei and South Korea were tied for ninth with one gold, two silvers and one bronze. Meanwhile, Wushu Federation of the Philippines (WFP) secretary general Julian Camacho was reelected one of the members of the International Wushu Federation (IWUF) executive board for 2023 to 2027. Camacho, a former WFP president, is a member of the IWUF ethics and supervisory committees. In other development, the Philippines was awarded the hosting of the World Wushu Championships in 2027.
