Outline - Panel 06.12.2012 CMI – DAECT – UNDP ART « The territorial approach for sustainable human development » In the context of the Africités Summit Dakar2012 6 December 2012 – 14:30 – 18:30 Room B 06 Conference Center KFP Hotel To the attention of workshops’ participants (Moderators, speakers, panellists, rapporteurs, masters of ceremony) Official Languages: French and English Panel 1 - The added value of the territorial approach for the post-2015 development vision This panel will take place from 2:30 to 3:20 PM (50 min.) The Official Opening will seek to frame the discussions within the global policy debate on the changing development context. High-level officials will discuss the importance of the territorial approach and the key role of local governments and actors. The discussions will aim to go beyond structural causes of poverty to address inequality and exclusion issues along with the importance of the relationship between local governance, local development and the concept of sustainable human development. Panellists will also discuss the need for policy coherence at the global, national and local levels to effectively promote sustainable human development. The debate will be based on the specificities of the African context. Its objective is to provide a valuable contribution on the role of the territorial approach to the definition of the post-2015 United Nations Development Agenda. It will run as follows: -
Introductory communication and presentation of the general topic by the moderator (5 min.); Speeches of 5 different panellists on the various topics addressed by this panel (7 min. Max each); Open discussions and concluding observations (the moderator will take 2-3 questions from the audience and will then summarize the panel's discussions).
