It also conducts analysis and strategic studies on urban issues. The Department of Architecture which promotes modern and traditional architecture by learning from experiences and building a framework to improve future interventions in both public and private sectors, through monitoring and evaluation activities. The Department of Territorial Planning promotes and coordinates studies, actions and projects in order to facilitate an optimum distribution of human beings and their activities, and to encourage their settlement according to national, regional and local potential. It controls and to supervises urban and rural agglomerations growth and development. The Technical Department is in charge of establishing construction codes and regulations to ensure safety, quality standards in all new construction. It is also exploring ways to innovate in the building sector with respect to energy efficiency and adaptation to climate change.
