NINJA PANDA OF THE MONTH– ALEX TSANG “Key club to me in the beginning was all about boring locker wrapping. Later it turned into a place of leadership building and an international family. When I was at DCON i learned how impactful the Kiwanis family was to the world. With the PNW family raising $273662000. At Kiwanis leadership camp I made so many friends like Denise, these experiences would have never have happened if I didn't join key club - BC”

SAT. APR 29TH AT PINETREE CC The April DCM was the first DCM to bring in the new term. Following the annual tradition, the April DCM introduced your new club executives and allowed them to showcase their talents! There was an Innie Wills and of course a potluck to celebrate the new term! We want to express our gratitude towards those who attended and brought a dish to share. We hope you had a fun time and can’t wait to see you at the May DCM!

SAT. MAY 27TH AT MINORU PARK The May DCM will be happening either at Minoru Park or Richmond Centre, depending on the weather. Build a team with other members from our Division! We will be having a photo/video scavenger hunt with a SPECIAL TWIST. Teams will be assigned and you will be compiling an album of the challenges to win awesome prizes! Take this opportunity to bond with Key Clubbers from different schools!

TAKE THE LEAD Key Clubbers from Churchill, Claremont, Killarney and Van Tech departed for Camp Squeah on April 21 with their minds set and ready to learn. Over the course of three days, members were led through exercises by the wonderful Lisa McCoy to boost their leadership skills and their bonds with Divisions 18 and 9. Despite the typical PNW rain, the mood was sunny and bright with positive vibes when handwritten notes were exchanged from Key Clubber to Key Clubber. Sharing compliments and words of encouragement reminded us to not only stay happy, but also to maintain our connections and communications as leaders in our homes, schools and communities. st

This weekend full of cheer has given us plenty of knowledge to bring back to our clubs and division, and we can’t wait to try out some of our new icebreakers! By Celine Co, Divisional Executive Assistant

MEET YOUR

APPOINTED CHAIRS

16

Hi Everyone! My name is Andy and I am absolutely elated to be the next Communications Chair at PNW Key Club! I am from Division 56 (Go Penguins!) and I am currently a Sophomore at Pullman High School. I joined Key Club as a Freshman with a goal broaden my social circle and serve the community in even greater ways. I can now say Key Club has fallen no short of the expectation I had. In fact, it has been even more life changing than I envisioned. Through Key Club, I have been able to strengthen my character, make life-long friendships, and give back to the community in a truly special way. There is no better package than what you can get out of being a part of this organization. This year, I hope to be able to deliver the same message I got from being in Key Club to everyone in the district. I will work to make sure all the clubs of the PNW, no matter how isolated or depleted they are, are able to be constantly updated and connected with the rest of the district. This will include sending out physical copies of resources to clubs, increasing involvement across all social media platforms, and creating more videos/ recaps of major events for everyone to follow-up on. In my free time, I love to be outdoors, playing sports, getting involved with other school activities, and making jokes with friends. I can’t wait to work with you all and if you ever have any questions, ideas, or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Here’s to another fantastic year of service! In Love and Service,

Andy He Communications Chair Pacific Northwest District Key Club International Email: communications@pnwkeyclub.org

My name is Danielle Bae and I am so excited to serve as your 2017-2018 District Project Chair. My home school is Skyline High School (GO SPARTS), the same as our lovely Division 28 Ltg, Heliqiong Sun. In terms of district project, I hope that together we will be able to reach our district project goal by the end of next March! The PNW has so much potential in fundraising and I wish to unlock your talents and truly strive to reach our goals. Key Club is a one of a kind opportunity that I have had the privilege of experiencing in my high school career and I hope that it will have an impact on all of you just as it has on me. Outside of Key Club, I lose sleep over my DECA competitions, try to not be lazy and attend my dance classes, attempt to debate at JSA meetings/events, spend all my money on buying school spirit gear, spend whatever is left on food with my friends and go to church on a regular basis. But all in all, fundraising can seem like a difficult or gigantic responsibility to take on, but I assure you that if we help and rely on each other, reaching our goals will seem simple! Please let me know if you need help or have any questions regarding our 2017-2018 district project. Or you can just contact me to talk, I don't bite (:!! In Love and Service,

Danielle Bae Districts Projects Chair Pacific Northwest District Key Club International Email: project@pnwkeyclub.org Phone: 425-417-3448

Hello Pacific Northwest District Key Clubbers! My name is Dennis Mach and I truly am honored and thrilled to be serving you, as your Membership Growth and Reactivation Chair for the 2017-2018 service year. I am from Division 21, home of the Bumblebees, and I also go to Mariner High School, home of the Marauders! Key Club has made a significant impact in my life, and I want to make sure that every future key clubber and member get that same experience. In Membership Growth, I plan on establishing an ideal goal with my committee for our district, which is to reach 13,500 Key Club members by DCON 2018 in Portland, Oregon. I plan on promoting membership resources, reactivating suspended/inactive clubs, producing membership recruitment videos, updating Key Club flyers and chartering new clubs. I will also work really close with our current District Treasurer to make sure that all clubs are paying their dues on time. As Membership Growth and Reactivation Chair, I plan on utilizing my knowledge of working as Club President, Divisional Executive Assistant, and implement my perspective as well with others, in order to have a more productive term. I also plan on hearing out your ideas on how we can work towards achieving active membership growth together. Here are some quick ways on increasing membership attendance during your meetings as we head into summer: -Contact your school’s leadership/ASB and ask if you can utilize their materials to make big huge posters that contain your meeting dates. -Send out personal invitations to anybody. Club member or not - it is crucial to promote Key Club in not only the beginning of the year, but the end of the year as well. -Have an end of the year potluck, or maybe have some cool treats such as ice cream. Teenagers love food!! -Start up raffle tickets. Those who bring someone who is not in Key Club gets two raffle tickets. Those who attend the meetings get one ticket. Prizes will be drawn at the end of the year. I hope that this short list will help you all out with increasing membership growth! If you have any questions or would like to know more ideas, please do not feel hesitate to contact me! I hope to get to meet as many of you as I can this upcoming year! In Love and Service,

Dennis Mach
