Greetings September is here! I hope you all had a great first day back to school! It is now time to welcome the new KEY CLUB YEAR. I hope you are all ready to start a new year filled with new friends, new service, and new memories! Don’t forget to advertise your club and its meeting early! You can also go around your school and put up posters all around. Make sure you mention when and where meetings are so students can stay up to date. I’m very excited to work with your clubs upcoming school year and I can’t wait to see all the fresh new members being involved in your club and community. Thanks and hope to see you all at the September DCM! (More information will be TBD)

The Committee for Growth and Outreach (CGO) is currently assessing the status of clubs outside of North America and the Caribbean. They are looking into methods that could be used to track their membership and the number of active clubs.

The Carolinas District recently held their Advanced District Leadership Experience from August 14 to 16. They have elected three new Lieutenant Governors, and increased their memb ership numbers to 12,187.

The Committee for Internal Development (CID) is focusing on the following directives: reviewing the Key Club magazine Survey from last year and fguring out how we can apply positive changes to Key Club.

The Missouri-Arkansas District is glad to announce another successful board meeting. The board participated in the a Kiwanis-led service project for The Boys and Girls Club Pack-AMeal campaign. They assisted Kiwanis members in packing 20,000 meals in one hour.

The Committee for Service and Youth Opportunities Fund will primarily be work ing with the overall promotion of service, the promotion of the Youth Opportun ities Fund, and ultimately, the reviewing and granting of Youth Opportunities Fund applications.

The Pacifc Northwest District recently released their second “RECAPpaccino� and had another successful Summer Board meeting from August 14 to 16. They are also continuing p r o m o t i onwi ththe ELEMONATE Challenge. Their summer rallies will be finishing this month.

We reached US$100 million! That means the Kiwanis family will help save or protect more than 55 million lives. And it leaves us just $10 million away from our fundraising goal.

is a nonprofit organization that raises money to benefit hospitalized kids while increasing awareness of its member hospitals. All CMN Hospitals contributions directly benefit hospitals, helping to purchase up-to-date equipment, train staff, conduct life-saving research, implement outreach programs and provide health care for children whose parents can’t afford to pay.

is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality. March of Dimes was founded by our 32nd President, Franklin D. Roosevelt, in the fight against polio. After the discovery of the polio vaccine, March of Dimes focused their efforts to improve the health of babies and has been successful with the help and enthusiasm of many grassroots volunteers.

the only organization of the United Nations dedicated exclusively to children, works with other United Nations bodies, governments and non-governmental organizations to assist in children’s needs through community-based services in primary health care, basic education, and safe water and sanitation in more than 150 developing countries.



The Youth Opportunities Fund (YOF) is an endowed fund for Key Club International held within the Kiwanis International Foundation. This fund uses earned interest to help Key Clubs and Key Club members serve the world by providing grants for service opportunities. The Youth Opportunities Fund is established through gifts to the G. Harold Martin Fellowships. 路 路 路

YOF grants are given only to Key Clubs and/or club members. There is only one funding cycle for the Youth Opportunities Fund. The application must be received by October 15 at 11:59PM EST. Clubs may request funding assistance ranging anywhere from US$100 to US$2,000. The committee typically funds those clubs who are asking for a portion of the total cost of the project, and clubs who are working with other organizations to fund and complete the project. There is one funding cycle for YOF grants per year. Applications received by October 15 at 11:59 PM EST are reviewed by the Key Club International YOF committee at their November meeting. Funding notifications are mailed no later than January first each year.
