Greetings from your Lieutenant Governor Hello Division 34! Can you believe that another month of school has gone by? It is now the month of Halloween, pumpkin spice lattes, and Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF! I highly encourage all of you to take part in this amazing event, that supports the ELIMINATE Project. Remember, $1.80 can save the life of a mother and her future babies from the horrible, yet highly preventable disease of maternal and neonatal tetanus. I would like to once again thank those who attended the last DCM. Together we raised $27 for the Eliminate Project, saving the lives of 15 mothers and her future babies. Remember to keep on serving and have fun! In Love and Service,

Ayane Kawaai

A message from the District Treasurer Hey Key Club Treasurers! This is Aneesh Pappu, your district treasurer. I hope you are all having a wonderful and productive school year and, for all you seniors, I hope that college applications are going well! We are currently in the midst of my favorite time of the year – dues season! Dues season runs until December 1st and is the time frame in which all clubs must submit dues in order to be a part of Key Club International. Although there are many service organizations aside from Key Club that do not require payments to join, there is no group that provides you with the same level of opportunities as we do. When you pay dues to join, you’re joining an international organization with ties and projects all over the world. Your dues provide you with the opportunity to fundraise for projects such as the Eliminate Project in order to cure deadly diseases around the world. The benefits don’t stop there however; joining Key Club provides you and your club with resources to succeed. As a paid member, you and your club immediately receive the benefits of district support ranging from the help of your Lieutenant Governor and District Executive Officers to the aid of the adult Kiwanians who support us in each and every endeavor we undertake. As we enter October a very important deadline for dues submission is arriving – Early Bird dues are due November 1st. Although it is not required to meet this deadline, submitting your club’s dues by this time comes with a myriad of benefits, including priority seating at DCON and an Early Bird patch for your club’s banner. In order to meet this deadline, each club must submit $12.50 per member for at least 15 members through the Membership Update Center (MUC), which can be found at www.keyclub.org/MUC. If you have not logged into the MUC this school year yet, it is crucial that you sit down with your adviser, login, and begin the registration process. If you have any issues with login credentials, be sure to email memberservices@kiwanis.org and include me as well (apappu97@gmail.com). After the Early Bird deadline, the final deadline for dues submission is December 1st. Unfortunately, clubs who do not submit their dues by this date will be placed on delinquent status, which can eventually translate into suspended and even inactive statuses for clubs. In order to avoid this, I highly recommend that you finish the dues process as soon as possible! I am also always available to assist if you have any issues, so don’t hesitate to shoot me an email or Facebook message if you ever need to! Happy Dues Season! In Caring & Service, Aneesh Pappu Pacific Northwest District Treasurer Key Club International apappu97@gmail.com

District Project Director

Anav Gagneja anavgagneja@gmail.com

Dorothy Wang Dorothywang.ltg64@gmail.com

Hey Key Clubbers! My name is Dorothy Wang and I am a senior from Division 64 – the new home of the Dinosaurs! I cannot express how honored and humbled I am to be able to serve the Pacific Northwest as the District Projects Committee Chair. I will commit this next year to making the Eliminate Project as successful as it can be for our district, and I hope you will, too! After raising over $80,000 for the Eliminate Project over the course of the last year alone, it won’t be easy for us to top our past accomplishments. However, I have complete faith in our district to achieve that and so much more for the campaign’s last year! As some of you may know, our district goal for this upcoming year is set at $50,000, but why not raise more? The district hopes to easily surpass that amount and save as many lives as we possibly can. The Eliminate Project needs YOU and the support of your Key Clubs and communities in order to reach our $110 million goal for Kiwanis International and to eliminate Maternal Neonatal Tetanus by 2015. Time is running out, so it is crucial that we go all out and do all that we can for the project in its final stage! Although the Eliminate Project has been our district project for over a year, we cannot afford to loosen the reins and wait for others to help us reach that goal. The amazing thing about the Eliminate Project is that even a little bit of change can have such a tangible and substantial impact on the lives of mothers and children throughout the world. Through a joint effort, I believe that MNT can and will be eliminated by 2015! Raise awareness throughout your communities and fundraise! Whether you and your club organize a movie night, Dance to Elimin8, Skate to Elimin8, potluck, or even a food sale, EVERY LITTLE BIT HELPS! It’s really amazing how far a little bit of effort, enthusiasm, and shameless promotion can go – especially when we’re talking about passionate and serving Key Clubbers!

K-Family Relations Director

If you ever need help with a fundraiser or have any questions regarding the Eliminate Project, please do not hesitate to contact me through email or Facebook (let’s be friends! !). As Margaret Mead said, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” Never get discouraged, because even $1.80 could change a mother’s and child’s life forever. Key Clubbers have a wonderful opportunity to make a huge impact on the world. Go out there and make PNW proud!
