“Morning Out At The Movies” fundraiser

Help raise needed funds for the Oak Harbor Senior Center and enjoy a “Morning Out At The Movies” with friends at the same time. As we go to press in February, details are still being worked out for our date. We will know the exact date by March 1. Join us at Oak Harbor Cinemas for the soon to be released “Water For Elephants” starring Robert Pattison, Reese Witherspoon and Hal Halbrook. Based on the book by Sara Gruen. It’s the story of Jacob Jankowski who was tossed by fate onto a rickety train that was home to the “Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth.” It was the early part of the great Depression, and for Jacob, now ninety, the circus world he remembers was both his salvation and a living hell. A veterinary student just shy of a degree, he was put in charge of caring for the circus menagerie. It was there that he met Marlena, the beautiful equestrian star married to August, the charismatic but twisted animal trainer. He met Rosie, an un-trainable elephant who was the great gray hope for this third-rate traveling show. The bond that grew among this unlikely trio was one of love and trust, and, ultimately, it was their only hope for survival. Tickets, available at the Oak Harbor Senior Center, are $15 and include the movie and your choice of a Kids Combo (small popcorn, 16 oz drink and candy) or small popcorn and 24 oz. drink. All ages welcome.
