The first Czech international dance competition for students of professional dance conservatories and ballet academies will open its imaginary gates to all able-bodied candidates from all over Europe.

The competition is organised by Ballet NdB in cooperation with the Filiánek Ballet School and the creative production company Art 4People. An international jury will judge the young dancers over three competition days, with the second and third rounds open to the public. The competition is aimed at the future of the artistic dance industry and targets young dancers. The main prize of the competition is an engagement with NdB Ballet 2. (kom)

Festival Ibérica celebrates twenty years. Flamenco stars will be accompanied by a gastronomic part of the festival in the courtyard of the Old Town Hall, which will smell of typical Spanish and South American delicacies. A dark evening

A fusion of the classic, the modern and the unique. That’s the new cycle of silent films with live music, HUSH: Silent Film Nights by Kino Art!

Throughout the year the cinema will bring a series of silent films with live accompaniments at unusual spots in Brno. These live musical projects more often than not come from the club music tradition. Aside from electronic music with post-club and techno influ- ences, you’ll also hear some other, more classic genres, like punk. And, in addition to these special screenings, you’ll be able to discover unique Brno locations. No Space For Fundamental Changes To Austerity Package

The government plans to raise corporation tax, property taxes, and excise tax on tobacco, alcohol, and gambling. Prime Minister Fiala indicated that there is no space for fundamental changes in the austerity package. The austerity package is expected to reduce the state budget deficit by CZK 94 billion next year.

MENDELU Faculty Launches Research Project Into Forest Ecosystems

For the next edition of Velvet Suicide’s dark evening at the Kabinet MÚZ in Brno, a great dark synth-pop/EBM package is prepared. Fatamorgana and SDH will arrive from Barcelona. A research group from Mendel University will coordinate research on forest ecosystems. The researchers will investigate the sustainability of forest ecosystems in the context of ongoing climate change, and ensure the stability of forests for the coming decades. Data collection and practical research will take place at the Masaryk forest school in Křtiny.
