Woodstock Furniture

Created by us. Inspired by you.

Our workshop is under the direction of Richard Mawson, who’s been with Woodstock for over 25 years, and it is where we take your initial inspiration and turn it into beautifully crafted pieces of furniture. Collectively, our team has 160 years of experience and although we’re happy to use modern technology, we keep to the traditional methods that would be recognisable to any master craftsman of the past.

When you’re reinventing an important part of your home, you want to be sure that you’re making the right decisions. Just as importantly perhaps, you’re looking to create something that’s truly unique.

As the lead designer at Woodstock, I’ve spent a great deal of time with clients – discussing different options, providing some creative inspiration, but above all, listening. In all the years I’ve been involved with the business, I’ve never tried to sell anyone a particular ‘range’ or impose my views on them. After all, it’s their kitchen, bathroom or living space, rather than mine. At our workshop in Hampshire, I know we have craftsmen who use traditional machinery to create beautiful and bespoke pieces of furniture. I’m always confident that we can take a client’s idea and work with it, producing a design that’s individual and distinctive. In short, our philosophy has always been the same: with the right thinking, open discussion and some real dedication, anything becomes possible.

Andrew Hall Managing Director and Chief Designer, Woodstock furniture

One of the things that makes Woodstock unique is the seamless and personal service we’re able to offer our customers.

There’s no visit from a sales team. You get to speak to our designers face-to-face. We take a brief, discuss your ideas and measure your home to ensure 100% accuracy. Then, before we draw up detailed plans, we will talk about the practicalities to our experienced and knowledgeable production manager. It’s by getting the details right at the outset – and anticipating any issues that might arise – that Woodstock is able to deliver the highest quality, bespoke products.

In a world of computer technology and instant solutions, it’s good to know that traditional craft skills survive and flourish.

At Woodstock Furniture, we listen carefully to your requirements, discuss all the available options and create a unique design for any part of your home. Our skilled craftsmen then turn the plans into reality by creating truly bespoke pieces of furniture at our workshop in Hampshire.

When you commission us, you’re not only certain of receiving quality, bespoke furniture, but you can also have peace of mind. We look for suppliers who are members of certification schemes with a full chain of custody accreditation.

Our approach to materials We all know our world has finite resources that are being consumed far too quickly. The question is what we can practically do to correct the imbalance. At Woodstock, we believe in sourcing certified timber from forests that have been responsibly managed. This helps to ensure a supply for generations to come and also preserves vital wildlife habitats. We are proud of the fact that we heat the workshop by recycling shavings, sawdust and offcuts. They are turned into briquettes which we then burn during the winter months to keep everyone warm. It’s a zero carbon system, which just goes to show the way in which a business like ours can make a positive contribution to the environment.

A taste of contemporary luxury This architect-designed Victorian townhouse in London needed the perfect finishing touch: a stylish, open-plan living area suitable for a family.

Inspiration: Creation:

We were aiming for a clean, linear look to this contemporary, converted space, with views through to the garden via a wall of glass. We created a bespoke, flush-style kitchen using stained walnut and contrasting glossy acrylic. The shelves, top and plinth are designed to complement the floor finish and Gaggenau appliances are placed symmetrically within the cabinets. The ceiling light shaft introduces an abundance of daylight, although we have made it possible to create a discrete home office using a concealed, sliding wall. Our large walnut table and contemporary dresser in the dining area lead through to the TV and media centre.

Classically stylish This tall, red-bricked, walled site is situated beside an attractive lake. Newly built in a classic Georgian style, it was the perfect backdrop for an ambitious kitchen project.

Inspiration: Creation:

Our client asked for a light painted kitchen in a classic style, which would lead through to a living room and orangery. The kitchen we created takes its inspiration from the Georgian style. Plain front frames, freestanding cabinets and dressers sit alongside a large island which echoes preparation tables of the past. We created a false chimney with concealed spice and condiment storage to frame the AGA, flanked by vast drawers and mid-height worktop cabinets with bi-fold doors. A large food zone has been created along one side of the room, containing a larder and integrated fridge freezers. The theme continues into the panelled boot room, which provides plentiful storage and laundry facilities.

Elegant curves We undertook a major refurbishment of this central London townhouse, designing and fitting furniture throughout, as well as the large, lower-ground floor kitchen.

Inspiration: Creation:

Our aim was to create an elegant kitchen which would meet the practical needs of a young family and also provide a fabulous entertaining space. Using beautiful, richly-coloured walnut, we created a design with a luxurious feel. A central island with rounded ends and curved doors enables easy circulation within the space. Most appliances are concealed behind furniture doors. The kitchen includes a generously proportioned larder, crockery drawers, illuminated sideboard and huge dining table, which is perfect for entertaining.

Perfect harmony This large Edwardian family home required an open plan family space where cooking, eating, relaxing and studying can all blend together harmoniously.

Inspiration: Creation:

Three separate rooms were linked together to produce an open-plan living space. Our client asked us to create cabinets which would deliver a timeless look and remain in keeping with this traditional English home. Using traditionally styled cabinets, we created a kitchen which incorporated a home office space, an elegant dresser and a window-seat feature. A simple bespoke cornice was skilfully fitted around structural beams, while softened skirting and corner detailing feature throughout. A beautiful green-veined granite was carefully selected to complement the design.

A fusion of past and present Our brief was to create an open-plan living space in an attractive Oxfordshire farmhouse, linking the main house and adjacent outbuildings.

Inspiration: Creation:

We looked to create a contemporary barn-style space, using classic oak and highlights of reflective acrylic. The result was a kitchen that sits in harmony with the adjacent dining and seating areas. We believe that attention to detail is absolutely critical on every project. Here, the vertical grain of the oak flows seamlessly through the drawer stacks. The curved, solid-oak bar surface is cantilevered over a panelled wall of acrylic which conceals valuable storage space below.

Luxurious living This spectacular open-plan living space is situated in a private road and is part of a beautifully extended property.

Inspiration: Creation:

Our focus here was on contemporary clean lines and ensuring that the cabinets remained understated, yet stylish. We created a discrete storage and display system as a platform for an eclectic art collection. The fumed oak cabinets are cantilevered off the walls and feature concealed groove handles to avoid distraction from the showcase art pieces. A large, limed Wenge table is supported by a forest of legs varying in proportions. The chrome inlays are inspired by the contemporary mirrored glass chandelier.

Young

A literary passion We meticulously restored this beautiful rectory, deep in the Hampshire countryside to its former glory.

Inspiration: Creation:

Our client required a study which incorporated a working office and a comfortable, relaxing space for reading. We aimed to create a traditionally styled room in which our client could store a large collection of books and memorabilia. The space was divided into two zones – an office and a reading area. The bookshelves flow seamlessly into panelled reveals and display shelving. Bespoke storage units and filing cabinets were designed to suit our client’s specific requirements.

Opulence and tranquillity With views over a central London park, this lateral penthouse apartment offered vast open-plan living opportunities.

Inspiration: Creation:

After travelling the globe and staying in many beautiful hotels, our client was looking to reinterpret some of these interiors. We aimed to create an elegant and luxurious space using dark woods in the open-plan bedroom, dressing room and bathroom area. Sheer opulence is the best way to describe our floor-to-ceiling veneered walnut doors, which use a combination of concealed and feature bronze-cast handles. We designed and crafted the bed surround and the lift-up TV cabinet and ensured that the wardrobes were designed into the eaves to make the best possible use of space. The tie and trinket drawers were tailormade to our client’s specific requirements.

A splash of style The bedroom theme flows seamlessly into the open-plan bathroom.

Inspiration: Creation:

After travelling the globe and staying in many beautiful hotels, our client was looking to reinterpret some of these interiors. We aimed to create an elegant and luxurious space using dark woods in the open-plan bedroom, dressing room and bathroom area. This luxurious space was task-divided and incorporated a large shower, concealed WC and a sculptural bath, all complemented by Corian-topped duo vanity basins suspended from the wall. We made full use of the eaves space, using sliding doors to screen towel and cosmetic storage areas. Low-level cabinets create a bedroom divider and incorporate space for large laundry baskets.
