INTRODUCING A TOTAL NEW DEVELOPMENT Zero15 has been the year with the most evolution on the sail range. The Black Team had the opportunity to be in direct contact with the production facilities to share their feedback. This led a speeding up of the development procedures and the chance for more prototyping, and testing, done over one year. 3 main words describe the Black Sails Zero15: Easier, lighter and more comfort. Thanks to our Black Team who was involved in the development, today you can enjoy our new products. Pascal Toselli, Ricardo Campello, Alberto Menegatti, Nicolas Akgazciyan, Andrea Cucchi, Dirk Doppenberg, Andy Laufer, Maciek Rutkowski, Francesco Prati, Martin Ten Hoeve, Vincent Langer, Jordy Vonk and all other BLK TM riders who gave us their feeback.
WHY POINT-7
A brand name which originates from the windsurf Racing scene. The sailor who crosses the finishing line first will receive 0.7 points. Point-7 being the winning score. Second place receives a 2 point score, third place a 3 point score and so forth. At the end of the event, the total race-score for each sailor gets added up and whoever has the lowest score wins the event. It is often the Point-7 score which gives us the final difference between the true winner and the rest. As with many things, it’s the small differences that play out in the larger picture, and this is the very definition of our products. We believe in competition, we believe in a strong Black Team to prove our products and raise the game!
DEVELOPMENT
From day one as we decided to make our own sail range; we knew that for us to be competitive and stand up against the competition we would have to offer the best possible quality, performance and service to our clients. The materials we use are all produced in the United States, our wave and freeride lines are reinforced constructed with X-ply and all sails made with UV resistant materials. The aggressive look of the sails is constructed with essential materials only. All sails are developed year round by the P7 BLACK TEAM to obtain the best feeling, guaranteeing you an unbeatable sailing experience. The development runs in 3 important stages and locations. The Canary Islands being used during the winter period, where the sails are tested in various conditions from light offshore winds to the strongest conditions that the islands has to offer. During the summer months development and testing then moves to Lake Garda in Italy to complete the range of use of products: 2 great locations which combined offer a wide variety of conditions and levels of windsurfing. The final stage of testing is when the sails are being brought out on the race courses to measure the latest technology and performance of the sails against the competition.

Point-7 finally gives you the opportunity to get the perfect sail and mast combination to at very competitive price level. Having the right mast and sail combo will guarantee the overall quality and durability of your rig along with having the highest performance possible.
PERFORMANCE A full range of powerful flat water sails which comprises great planning qualities, stability and having a light feeling in the hands even in strong wind. A great wave selection of sails, which includes the unique 3 batten SWAG range and a pure freestyle range.
QUALITY Utilizing the newest technologies and materials available; Point-7 sails are always one step ahead. Using primarily UV stabile materials, the expected life of a sail is prolonged substantially. All year non-stop testing of materials and sails in all various conditions, warrants unbeatable quality in the products. 30 unique details are worked in on each sail line to ensure durability and less wear. The Point-7 masts are made in Italy. By having the mast production based in Italy, it’s possible to have a continuous development into new products and ensuring that the standard on all products are second to none; both in the quality of materials being used and the craftsmanship. The masts are produced using the Prepreg-Autoclave process which creates an extremely homogenous carbon/resin mix under high pressure. Using a newly patented procedure which allows the resin to be distributed in equal quantities around the mast walls, which assist to guarantee an equal curve of the mast no matter how it is turned in the sail.

This service is managed by our Chief Tester Andrea Cucchi. Together with each distributor we have chosen excellent windsurfers who can support you with the best advice available online. We wanted to give a special look to our sails. Something which would have been standing out from other products. Something beautiful, elegant and aggressive. At the same time we had seen the black sails at the Americas Cup. They looked like we wanted. We ordered the Black Monofilm in the US. We had asked them if it was possible to have a UV test on the material, and the results were amazing. Much longer lasting against the UV rays of the sun, compared to any other monofilm colour. Passing the heat and UV ray tests, there was no other reason why not to go black!

We put so much passion and energy into developing this winning race sail, and now the result of this work is available for everyone to enjoy. After the massively successful 2013 season with PWA wins and podiums we are extremely proud to continue the heritage and looking forward to what this new season will bring to our team. The black team exploded in 2013 with many new names joining the team and one of the most satisfying results was to see how everyone improved their results from their previous years. Now with the new improvements, the AC-1 has become easier to handle and will also suit a more general use than just pure racing. Those who will choose the AC-1 for their quiver for the first will be left breathless by the sheer performance of this rig, those who know the range will be nothing but smile from ear to ear with the ease of the rig and its mechanical functionality and overall performance.

We raced this sail on the real course very often during our slalom training in Tenerife. The biggest satisfaction was on Lake Garda one day. I was testing the AC-K with my local group of riders who are AC-K fans and the new one was just killing the old version. I was sure that I could have been competitive even against our champ Menegatti. That same day Alberto, who was rigging his AC-1 racing sail to go out training, was actually waiting for me to finish the AC-K testing session to assist him in his training. I asked him if it was ok if I did few runs with him on the AC-K as I had the feeling I could keep up the speed of any racing sail with the AC-K 5G. He rather laughed. Once on the water his smile was not there anymore. I did not have to go back to the beach to rig my AC-1 to be competitive against his speed. I gave him trouble to his confidence, actually the AC-K 5G did! We really pushed the development of this sail and have left no gap or the competition to try and overtake.. Enjoy being kings out there!

After using the cam sails the whole year round, jumping on the AC-X feels like opening the soft top on your car and going full speed through an empty road with beautiful scenery around you. The best surprise is that it still overtakes most cam sails on the water if you are well trimmed. It’s not me being a fast sailor; the actual sail is fast and gives power to push on the fin as a real racing product.

This was a real surprise. I had never tried a three batten sail before the Point-7 SWAG 2g. It was a real Swag. Back at my home spot, I was not really appreciating it for freestyle. Was hard to say though, as I loved the Slash for that. Later I used the Swag in Maui and fell in love. I have ever used such a fun wave sail! I would book a ticket to Cabo Verde just to enjoy this wave product in great rad conditions. Easy and light: a toy in the hands, forgetting that it’s a three batten when I am on it.

It has power. If I say it, that I’m over 200 and 90KG, trust me. The comfort of the sail in rough conditions is amazing. I never get stuck or out of planning. The speed brings me very high in the air. I enjoy it a lot in bumpy conditions, onshore, especially in the North Sea. I believe it’s a true masterpiece and no one could say anything about this.

The new SC100 being introduced is the fruit of extensive testing on curves, grip diameters and rigidity. The boom ensures an equal load distribution to both of the rider arms and both feet, giving an extremely comfortable stance that will allow its user to sail for longer with less fatiguemaking it easier to push harder!

EXTENSIONS
Having the right tool is half the work. The Point-7 extensions are based on a very simple indestructible design that is easy to use. The pulley layout ensures no crossing or twisting of the rope, giving a super easy downhaul of even very large sails. The extension tubes are made with strong T8 grade aluminium with adjustment increments for every 2.5cm.
