Owen, the owl, lived in an abandoned cottage attic in the middle of a forest. He was a light sleeper and very bossy.

One day after tossing and turning in his nest, he found himself unable to sleep.

“ This bed is not comfy!” he said. So off he went to visit the mice’s room instead.

“Your rooms are in such a mess! Look! How could you all sleep in such a cramp crowded nest?” exclaimed Owen.

Owen marched off to the bird’s nest. “Your nest is so small, I can hardly fit at all!” Owen said mockingly.

Owen flew off to the Rabbit’s hole. “This is the worse of all! So damp and dark! I shall never sleep in this muck!” “I’m leaving this place!” He shouted.

Owen headed to a nearby town. He landed upon a bell.“This would be a good spot!” He said and settled down.

Suddenly, the bell chimed, knocking Owen out of his sleep. “THIS DEFINITELY WOULDN’T DO!” He cried and flew off.

Owen went to the city next. He scaled a tall skyscraper far above the traffic and construction below. “This is the perfect spot! He said and settled down.

Suddenly, a loud thunderous roar came from above. “A MONSTER!” Cried Owen as he fell off his perch.

He landed onto a hot air balloon and held on for dear life until it passed a mountain. It was pristine and beautiful. He decided to fly towards it.

Before he could even sleep, a loud thundering came from aroud him and snow fell heavily. A snowstorm was approaching.

“Oh dear! He cried and found cover in a little crevice.

The wind was howling terribly.

If I’d known outside the house was so dreadful, I would have never left!

Then things calmed down, he picked up faint noises of the city and quickly flew towards it.

Even though his wings were almost frozen from the cold and ached with exhaustion, he flew over the mountains,

Past the city,

Through the town,

All the way back home to the abandoned house.

Exhausted, Owen went to the closest place he could find and promptly fell asleep.

When the mice, birds and rabbit found him, they all had a great laugh. Owen was all tuckered out... Sleeping in the rabbit hole!

Do you know someone who’s bossy and a light sleeper? Meet Owen the owl. How far would he go to get a good sleep?
