This corridor evaluation for Cypress Gardens Road from SR 540 to Lake Ned Road was performed as a part of preparing the Complete Streets Handbook for the Polk TPO. The purpose was to apply a selection of potential complete street treatments and features to evaluate their feasibility to Cypress Gardens Road. The recommendations in this document are not meant to be a comprehensive list of potential improvements.

SIDEWALK

Creating multimodal node at Grant Road/Lake Dexter Boulevard, including crosswalk and school crossing features, with rectangular rapid flashing beacon (RRFB) provides increased safety for pedestrians and school children.

Creating multimodal node just west of Lake Ned Road (at location of existing bus shelter on south side) enhances pedestrian and transit safety and increases awareness for drivers.

Creating continuous sidewalk on south side of the corridor allows for improved pedestrian connectivity along the corridor. Installing bicycle “sharrows� along corridor provides for increased awareness of bicyclists along the corridor.

Completing sidewalk coverage on north side of corridor allows for improved pedestrian connectivity along the corridor.

Proposing redevelopment of Grove Lounge as public-private partnership allows for enhanced visual aesthetics with improved multimodal access.
