Power of Polo at Guards

On Friday 17 June, The Power of Polo Charity returned to Guards Polo Club for the first time in three years, with the players taking part a mix of young people and ex-injured military service personnel. They were joined by London’s Ebony Horse Club and after a four chukka match, the final score rested on 5-5.

Polo Training Center Santa Barbara

On Monday 22 August, the annual Polo Training Center Santa Barbara (PTCSB) benefit golf tournament will take place as part of a fundraising series to support youth polo. Guests may purchase an individual player ticket ($500) or foursome ($1,800) for the tournament, which will include a box lunch, green fees, cart, and an evening reception from 5 to 7pm with live music on the picturesque lawn overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The Durham Invitational Polo Tournament teams

On Thursday 23 June, after months of careful planning, the inaugural Durham Invitational Polo Tournament was hosted at Thoresby Park Polo Club in blistering sunshine, with teams from the universities of Durham, Nottingham, Exeter and London competing for prizes generously donated by Oswald Sporting and Hrafn Gin. Throughout the day, the action was followed carefully by a group of dedicated spectators from Durham University, keen to watch some of the best university teams in the country. They were treated to some wonderful chukkas throughout the morning, which saw Nottingham lead the way with a flawless two wins from two. Following a brief interlude for a buffet prepared at Thoresby, the Durham side then triumphed after an excellent performance in their Subsidiary Final against London, before the Final was won by an impressive Exeter team, who, led by tournament MVP Zac Campbell-Breeden, defeated Nottingham in a brilliant and gripping match decided by a penalty shootout. Following the prize-giving ceremony, players and spectators then returned to Durham for an evening at the Durham University Polo Ball, turn to the Sidelines pages for social images from the evening. The thrilling standard of play reflected a tremendous year of growth for the Durham University Polo Club, who have broken membership and performance records both on and off the pitch.

Suicide is the leading cause of death in men under 50 in the UK. Our mission at James’ Place is to stop men dying by suicide.

James' Place was founded by Clare Milford Haven and Nick Wentworth-Stanley following the tragic loss of their son, James Wentworth-Stanley, aged 21.

James’ Place is a place where men in suicidal crisis can access support, advice and help. Our centres in Liverpool and London provide a safe, therapeutic environment in which men are cared for, respected, and treated by professional therapists. Since we started delivering our intervention in August 2018, we have seen over 1,100 men in crisis.

We now need to expand our service to provide our life-saving, unique intervention nationally, treating 2000 men per year, by opening three further centres in England.
