Durham University Polo Ball, Thursday 23 June; Beamish Hall Hotel Durham’s Bi-Annual Ball

Following the invitational tournament earlier in the day, spectators and players alike returned to Durham to join members and their guests for an evening at the biannual Durham University Polo Ball. Set in the Winter Gardens at Beamish Hall Hotel, attendees received the committee’s traditional welcome: meeting and having their picture taken with two polo ponies, who had travelled up from Thoresby Park Polo Club for the occasion. After indulging in a sparkling reception and playing croquet and boules on the hotel grounds, guests were then treated to a seasonal three-course meal in a room decorated with roses to celebrate the Summer theme. This preceded a raffle and auction, where prizes included polo lessons and shooting packages, before the event concluded with guests engaging in a rodeo bull competition and dancing into the early hours to performances from the Durham-based band Orchard Thieves and DJ Francois Miravalls.
