“A couple of last-minute hitches resulted in the chukka schedule being revamped twice, but the SUPA stewards took it all in their stride to ensure everyone had fun.

The Club was a beehive of activity with enthusiastic players and supporters filling the air with their excitement. Many of these players experiencing competitive polo for the first time.

St Mary’s Ascot had a very successful day, winning all their divisions with Heathfield School runners up.

Every player received fantastic prizes including hoodies, medals and Polo Times magazines.

Huge appreciation and thanks go to RJ Polo, Black Hound Sports and Polo Times for their continued support at all SUPA events.”

Smiles all round at the first Junior Schools National Grass Championships since 2019

On Sunday 8 May, the first Junior Schools National Grass Championships were held since May 2019 and Caroline Grayson reported on the event, “We were exceptionally lucky to be able to play on the new pitch at Oxford Polo and cannot thank David Ashby and Hector Worsley enough for allowing us to be the first competitive tournament to be played there.

The sun shone and 11 teams took to the pitch. Huge congratulations to all the children that took part – they all played exceptionally well. Our sponsors Black Hound Sports provided wonderful prizes and Oxford Polo awarded prizes for MVP (Holly) and the first goal (Charlie) to be scored in their inaugural polo tournament.

There is a misconception that you need to be at a school that plays polo as an activity, this is not the case, and we are here to help put teams together of children who would like to play with their peers, everyone is welcome and we are working hard with the Pony Club and HPA to bring more structure to all tournaments for the U21’s. If you would like more information about SUPA please visit our website https://www.supa.org.uk/ or contact caroline.grayson@supa.org.uk.”
