Passions: Josh Hyde
from Polo Times June 2022
by Edit
Heralding from a polo background, it has been no surprise to see young British talent Josh Hyde taking the 2022 American season by storm, winning The C.V. Whitney Cup and reaching the USPA Gold Cup with Park Place. Josh has now returned to England for the high goal season where he will be playing alongside familiar teammates, Hilario Ulloa and Juan Britos for Park Place Vaara
What is your biggest passion and why?

Polo is by far my biggest passion because of the lifestyle of being a polo player and the adrenaline you get out on the field.
What is your all-time best polo memory?
My best polo memory is winning The C.V. Whitney Cup in America and I’m sure I’ll never forget it.
Who were/are your favourite teammates?
My favourite teammates to date are definitely Juano [Britos] and Hilario [Ulloa], I think together they have huge chemistry. I also enjoyed playing with Ryan Pemble because of how he made me understand the game and he taught me loads in a short amount of time.
Favourite celebrity and why?
My favourite celebrity is probably Ricky Gervais because how he speaks the truth about the world is so refreshing.
Hardest opponent?
I think I would have to say Facundo Pieres because of how well he’s mounted, he never misses the ball and can read the play like no other.

Which sports do you like outside of polo?
I really love football, our family are huge Chelsea supporters. I also used to play squash with my brothers and dad a lot.
Favourite film and why?
My favourite film would have to be The Hangover because of the comedy.
Favourite song/ album?
My favourite song always changes, but right now it’s The Anthem by the Good Charlotte.
Best holiday destination?
The holiday destination for me would have to be going to Tokyo.
Best pony and why?
The best pony overall would have to be a horse like Cuartetera, but my personal favourite was one owned by my brother named Sweet and Low, because she was such a strong brave horse.
Are you passionately superstitious?
I try not to be, but sometimes I will eat the same dinner and breakfast as I had before the previous game if we won.
Favourite food/dish?
My favourite food is definitely my dad’s Sunday roast.
Most prized possession?
I don’t have many important possessions, so probably my bank card!
Describe yourself in three words…
Adaptable, ambitious and motivated.
One thing which would surprise us about you?
That I am madly obsessed with my brother’s dog Obi!
