Senior Thesis The culminating work of each Poly student is a self-directed, academic, creative, or servicebased research project. A sampling of recent topics includes the following: • The ethics of genetic engineering in disease eradication • Police brutality in Chicago and the interplay of de facto segregation • Can disaster proof architecture lead to safe towns and cities, eliminating the need for evacuations? • An exploration of the 2008 U.S. financial crash and its aftermath • The origins of "laicité" and its role in modern-day Islamophobia in France • The impact of social and political systems on teen pregnancy in southern states • Spanish fascism's role in the development of modern soccer
