Ffilm ddogfen hyfryd am grŵp o hen ffrindiau idealistig sy’n benderfynol o ddangos ffilm mewn gwlad lle na chaniateir mynd i’r sinema. Mae pedwar gwneuthurwr ffilm diymhongar, sydd wedi dod yn ôl at ei gilydd wedi blynyddoedd mewn alltudiaeth, yn ceisio adfywio eu hen freuddwyd o wneud sinema yn realiti yn Sudan. Film sy’n yn taflu goleuni gwahanol ar wlad, diwylliant a phobl nad ydym ond yn clywed newyddion drwg amdanynt.
A delightful documentary about a group of idealistic old friends determined to put on a film in a country where cinema-going is no longer allowed. Reunited again after long years of exile, four unassuming filmmakers inspired by a love of film try to revive their old dream of making cinema a reality in Sudan. This film casts an oblique light on a country, a culture and a people about which we only ever hear bad news; any cinema fan will find this utterly irresistible.

Wedi’i seilio ar nofel rymus Jerzy Kosinski. Taith hunllefus bachgen trwy erchyllterau rhyfel. Ar ôl cael ei adael i ofalu amdano’i hun ar ôl marwolaeth ei fodryb, mae o'n cychwyn ar daith dywyll drwy Ganolbarth Ewrop lle mae ofn, newyn a rhagfarn yn gymdeithion cyson iddo. Nid yw hon yn ffilm hawdd i’w gwylio ac mae ynddi olygfeydd a fydd yn achosi trallod i rai, er bod ynddi ambell foment ysgafnach. Dyma ffilm sy’n edrych ar chwalfa gymdeithasol ddirdynnol.
Based on Jerzy Kosinski’s acclaimed novel, this is a starkly compelling nightmare of one boy’s journey through the horrors of war. Left to fend for himself after his aunt’s death, a young boy sets off on a dark odyssey through Central Europe where fear, hunger and prejudice take their toll. Rarely an easy watch, there are occasional moments of respite and a few scenes some will find distressing. This is a harrowing exploration of social breakdown.
“I can state without hesitation that this is a monumental piece of work and one I’m deeply glad to have seen.” Xan Brooks, Guardian

Mae Marcello yn ymgorfforiad o’r bourgeois rhwystredig, sydd â chywilydd o’i dad ‘gwallgof’ a’i fam sy’n gaeth i opiwm. Mae’n fodlon gwneud unrhyw beth i ffitio i mewn ac yn ddigon parod i lofruddio er mwyn dilyn llif ffasgaidd y cyfnod.
Marcello is the epitome of the coldhearted, repressed bourgeois, ashamed of his ‘mad’ father and opiumaddicted mother, desperate to fit in, and quite prepared to commit murder to follow the flow of fascist political fashion.

Portread ffres, digrif o ferch yn dychwelyd adref yn benderfynol o gynnig rhywbeth y mae hi’n meddwl sydd ei angen ar bobl. Mae Selma eisiau agor practis seicotherapi yn Tunis. Er bod pobl wrth eu bodd yn siarad am eu problemau, does neb yn dychmygu gorfod talu i rywun wrando. Ddychan slei ac effeithiol ar draddodiadau.
A fresh, comic portrait of a woman returning home determined to offer people something she thinks they need. Selma wants to open a psychotherapy practice in Tunis, where, although people love to talk about their problems, no one thinks they’ll pay to be listened to. This is a wry, slyly effective satire on entrenched traditions.

Yn ei chais gwyllt am gariad, mae egni afreolus Benni, 9 oed, yn gyrru pawb o’i chwmpas i anobaith. Pan mae’n mynd ohoni, mae Benni yn sgrechian,yn strancio ac yn poeri. Wrth iddi gael ei throi allan o un cartref maeth ar ôl y llall, nid yw’n breuddwydio am ddim mwy na chael ei haduno gyda’i mam hynod annibynadwy. Gyda’i berfformiad rhyfeddol, mae'n bortread teimladwy o blentyn bregus a’r problemau y mae’n eu creu hyd yn oed i’r gofalwyr mwyaf cydymdeimladol. Ffilm sy’n herio agweddau confensiynol tuag at ddiniweidrwydd, systemau cymorth a'r wladwriaeth les.
On her wild quest for love, 9-year-old Benni’s untamed energy drives everyone around her to despair. When she loses it, Benni screams, hits out and spits. Expelled from one foster home after another, she dreams of nothing more than being reunited with her deeply unreliable mother. It’s extraordinary central performance of a vulnerable, challenging child shows the problems she poses for even the most sympathetic of carers. This challenges conventional attitudes towards innocence, systems of support and, ultimately, the role of the welfare state.

Stori hyfryd am fywyd teuluol ar wastadeddau Tibet. Mae Darje a Drolkar yn byw bywyd digyffro i bob golwg gyda’u tri mab a’u taid. Mae condom yn achosi embaras a chyfres o ddilemâu, gan fygwth cytgord y teulu. Beth sydd bwysicaf yn y cylch o fywyd a marwolaeth, eich enaid anfarwol neu realiti sefyllfa bob dydd? Gan ymdrin yn daclus â nifer o straeon cydblethedig a dilemâu moesegol, mae Balloon yn edrych ar natur gyfyngol credoau Bwdhaidd traddodiadol a’r cyfleoedd a ddaw gyda moderniaeth fwy materol.
This is a beautifully told tale of family life on the Tibetan plains. Darje and Drolkar live an apparently serene life with their three sons and grandfather. A condom sparks embarrassment and a series of dilemmas. What matters more in the circle of life and death, your immortal soul or the here and now of everyday reality? Neatly handling a number of interlocking stories and ethical dilemmas, Balloon reflects on the restrictive nature of traditional beliefs and the opportunities that come with a more materialistic modernity.

Mae’r stori emosiynol hon, sydd wedi’i lleoli yn harddwch gwyllt ac anghysbell yr Andes ym Mheriw, yn ymdrin â themâu pwysau treftadaeth, ffiniau cariad, a beichiau disgwyliadau teulu - yn ogystal â chymhlethdod derbyn ein rhieni am bwy ydynt mewn gwirionedd. Mae Anatolia yn feistr ar wneud retablo, gan ddysgu’r grefft fesul tipyn i’w fab Segundo. Pan ddaw ar draws cyfrinach enbyd y mae ei dad yn ei chelu, mae’n rhaid i Segundo wynebu realiti cignoeth y gymdeithas hynod geidwadol y mae’n byw ynddi, yn ogystal â chysylltiad llawer dyfnach â’i dad nad yr oedd erioed wedi’i ddychmygu.
Set against the stunning backdrop of the remote Peruvian Andes, this emotional, obliquely told tale masterfully explores the weight of heritage, the boundaries of love, and the burdens of family expectations – as well as the complexity of accepting our parents for who they really are. Anatolia is a master retablo maker, gently teaching his son, Segundo, his trade. Stumbling across a shattering secret his father is harbouring, Segundo has to face the raw reality of his deeply conservative surroundings, as well as a more profound connection with his father than he’d ever had.
