Using sports as an example, museums across Wales ask:“What should we collect to reflect contemporary Wales?” This exhibition highlights some of the issues identified of contemporary collecting (post 1950) in an age of global mass production. Funded through the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, the exhibition will show sporting collections from museums and sporting bodies across Wales. In this exhibition, Smith presents new paintings concerned around a long-standing investigation into the subject of colour. Smith’s work has been influenced by the revolving and animated light from Tremadog Bay, providing almost laboratory conditions for the investigation of colour in painting.
