What Awards Do for You Winning awards does many things for you: Validation: Awards validate that your work is good, and that acts as a confidence booster for you and your team.

Credibility: Since awards are given by a third party, which has its own reputation (like Pool Magazine for Designers), this validation becomes more credible. It is not that you are praising your own work, it is Pool Magazine saying your work is good.

Brand: This credibility helps to build your brand. It’s not the same as receiving an award from a business or marketing publication that may not know much about design. Pool Magazine has featured over a thousand Indian designers, and has already published more than 100 issues of the magazine. This is an undeniable stamp of authority in design.

Uniqueness: An award is what makes you different from your competition. Face the facts, clients and businesses have no way to evaluate one design company from another. Awards create this distinction for you.

Client trust: Clients always trust award winning designers more, and if that award comes from an industry leader, the trust is beyond doubt.

Reason to promote: Winning an award becomes a reason to get in touch with your past clients and contacts. It also becomes a reason for you to promote your services and yourself. Designindia was founded in 2002. It was started as a platform for interaction for the design community in India and abroad. Over the years it has grown into a forum spread over many social and professional networking domains, linking design professionals into an active, interactive and thought leading community.

DECOR Left to Right: 'Colour Story'

LIMITLESS POSSIBILITIES When did you discover you had artistic leanings? SS: As a child, I had the zeal to keep creating. I used to visit my father’s textile unit where fabrics were printed in dazzling prints and scintillating colors. I would sit in front of him for hours, mesmerized by his shade card with its thousands of hues and shades. This was my first introduction to the world of colors, and I was captivated by them.

Shuchita Sancheti’s home décor brand vVyom offers a striking range of products that find their origins in her hand painted artworks

While growing up, I discovered the world of art, and began to question existing perceptions. How do colors affect us consciously and subconsciously? Why do we like 52  POOL #105

IN MEMORIAM

Helena Perheentupa (1929- 2019)

Ashoke Chatterjee’s tribute to a deeply loved and respected friend of Indian design. Ashoke served as Executive Director, Senior Faculty, Distinguished Fellow and Professor of Communication and Management at the National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad. The recent passing of Helena Perheentupa in her native Finland has removed from our midst a designer, teacher and colleague whose contributions to Indian design are beyond estimation. During Helena’s long career at the National Institute of Design, she helped build systems of design education and of design practice which then launched pioneering careers and role models. These in turn have influenced almost every effort in the spread of 58  POOL #105
