Design Accolades This is the third year POOL Magazine is hosting India’s Best Design Studio Awards and already it is a very different type of event, distinct from any other award program in many ways.

Designindia was founded in 2002. It was started as a platform for interaction for the design community in India and abroad. Over the years it has grown into a forum spread over many social and professional networking domains, linking design professionals into an active, interactive and thought leading community.
It is the only Award that celebrates Design Studios; the process includes organizational and financial audits. From this year we are also recognizing the diversity within each domain, and we may have more than one winner in each category of studios. We also decided to extend the same rigor to individual projects; the idea was to collect and present to the audience the best design projects done recently in each domain. As the winning entries prove, the projects have been judged on their own merit, and not against each other. This is one award that does away with categories altogether. Each winner is India’s Best Design Project by itself. We are thankful to our Jury and our sponsors who help us keep the bar up, but bigger thanks go to the participants who have put their faith and trust in the awards. Initiated by POOL Magazine in 2015, these are the first awards of their kind in this country, and also the most respected! JURY 2017 India’s Best Design Awards invited renowned design experts from around the world to participate in the evaluation process for India’s Best Design Studio Awards and India’s Best Design Project Awards 2017. Jury members are leading design experts in the fields of visual communication, industrial design, experience design, branding, craft, textile, design innovations and social impact design.
A Balasubramaniam New Delhi A practising product designer, the founder of January Design, a consultancy that works mainly with marginal crafts, grassroot innovations and the MSME sectors of the industry.
Adil Jal Darukhanawala Pune A pioneer among Indian automotive journalists, he has over 40 years of diverse experience. He presently heads Fast Bikes India magazine and is the first Indian ever to be honoured at the Guild of Motoring Awards in the UK.
Aditi Ranjan Ahmedabad A textile designer and educator, she was a design teacher at the National Institute of Design (NID) from 1974 to 2012. She has authored a book on the Textile and Bamboo crafts of Northeast India (1983).
Anil Sinha Ahmedabad Currently Head of GLS Institute of Design, Ahmedabad. Previously, Principal Designer, Faculty of Communication Design; Activity Chairperson, IDS and IP&P, National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad.
Elizabeth (Dori) Tunstall Toronto A design anthropologist, public intellectual, and design advocate who works at the intersections of critical theory, culture, and design. She is the Dean of Design at Ontario College of Art and Design University.
Dr. Essam Abu-Awad Amman Dean of the Faculty of Art and Design, Applied Science Private University; active in the academic and professional fields of design.

Prof. Mookesh Patel Mumbai Dean at Indian School of Design and Innovation, Mumbai. He is the recipient of a Fulbright Research Scholar Grant, United Nations Development Program Grant, and other awards.
Raman Saxena New Delhi Co-founder of USID Foundation and Delhi Design Festival. Founder of USER Lab Asia, Innovation Factory India. He has 20+ years of experience leading UX, Design Thinking, and Design Innovation strategy projects.
Saki Mafundikwa Harare Director of Zimbabwe Institute of Digital Arts, Zimbabwe’s first and only Graphic Design and New Media training facility.
