The golden autumn leaves move across the bright blue sky. It is all about color and form of natural motion without a central subject.

• Location: Bear Mountain, Harriman State Park, NJ

I took this photo passing through the leaves when the sun was shining behind (backlighting) the result is bright golden yellow.

Storm King Art Center is a unique open air museum. Walls and roof are replaced by natural landscape. Sky and clouds become roof. Mountain and trees become wall. Scluptures are huge and surrounded by different landscape setting. Autumn is the best time to take advantage of nature for taking photos. The changing of seasons transforms the space around the sculptures into a canvas of intense color.

The autumn sunlight brings out the textures of green grass, dry leaves, and various shade of color in the landscape. The wonderful variety of shapes and textures in color contrast with the smoothness and monochromatism of the bench making it stand out in the background.

This image was taken right after sunset. The gradation of color moves quickly from yellow to purple. The beautiful colors of sky get stronger and contrast against the silhouette of buildings as the time passed. The silhouettes of building divide the sky and city. There is a feeling of cloud movment through the sunlight - a sense of powerful storm to come.

The use of the light timing will make a striking image with extreme color contrast, reflection and silhoulette.

Light, harmony, and position of color make images more intense and vibrant.

A door or window frame can be a strong subject when it is painted in bright colors. Colors of architectural surroundings can be intense and powerful. The colors can be complimentary or playfully contarst.

The Gates was an outdoor installation art by Christo & Jeanne-Claude. More than five housand gates with hanging orange saffron fabric panels were displayed throughout the Central Park, New York City. The exhibit ran from February 12, 2005 through February 27, 2005.

Water, glass, metal and shiny objects produced interesting painting-like image. The reflection in the water produce waves of color and brush stroke-like lines.

Glass is one of the most effective reflectors. It produces duplication, distortion, blurring and movement of the image. Reflection from glass collects colors and shapes from the surroundings.

FROM THE PHOTOGRAPHER

In Poramit Thantapalit's photographs, the image of nature are transformed into pieces of art. Color, harmony, spacing and subject arrangement are gently placed with meaning in my photos. Some are minimize the detail becoming abstract. Some are simple, but intense in color. Most of my works are natural landscape or architectural surrounding. I am deliberate in choosing the spot, angle and direction of light to get the rendition and drama of colors in my image. Color contrast, saturation, intensity, reflection, shape, and texture

are featured elements in my photography. The color elements are always played against each other and become subjects of my vision.

I have a background in the arts. Although I never formally studied photography, I graduated with major in computer graphics. I am a self-taught artist photographer. Most of my works are influenced by my work as a graphic designer and fine arts painter. I worked in film medium in the past. In the past couple years, I have been working in digital format. The use of modern photo editing software has allowed me more artistic freedom and opportunities in the photographic realm.

Camers used Canon 300D, Canon G5, Canon S70, Canon A60, Fuji fd40, Lumix FX18, and Holga.

Software used Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator, QuarkXpress, InDesign. Year 2002-2009
