In this portfolio you will have the opportunity to learn more about my work and my areas of specialization, but first: I’ll start by introducing myself!

Catarina

I’m 23 years old and I’m from Porto, Portugal. I am finishing my masters degree in Fashion Communications Design and hope to become a professional in the industry. A full-time dreamer and believer in constant growth, after graduating in Business Communication I took the risk and am now trying to make my way into the fashion industry.


Here’s a little bit of my story:

Ever since a very young age I never truly convinced myself about what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I wanted to be everything: a dancer, a gymnastic, a teacher and even a beach vendor.

2013 / Communication and Media When in secondary school I chose a more practical path and then entered a Communication and Media course: my first and unforgettable touch with the world of arts. There I learned all the basic of communication, journalism, marketing and design to later intensify them at university. For my senior year I also did and internship in a communication agency which I successfully completed.


2016

/ Business Communication

My passion for communication, united with the entrepreneurial spirit that was starting to grow in me, lead me to this amazing degree where I learned everything I needed to know to work in all kinds of communication. From internal communication to social media management, and even other areas such as digital marketing, advertising, public relations, crisis communication and brand activation.

For my final project I chose to apply all this knowledge to the study of the potential birth of a sustainable swimwear brand and its communication.

During these years I also joined the communication department of a student association where I worked for their social media, some events and even parties (I guess you could say I very much enjoyed this part).

I was also involved in the organization of an event dedicated to communication and marketing with the presence of renowned professional in the field.

I experienced some of the best years of my life while still doing some volunteer work (the best of both worlds).

2019/2020 Gap Year

After my bachelor’s degree I took a gap year to work and get my mind of some studying but Covid-19 came in and convinced me to go back to university. Ever since my final project I started to become more interested in starting my own fashion brand and getting to know the fashion industry a bit more, so I applied for a Fashion Communications Design master’s degree and got accepted.

2020 - present Master’s degree

In the first year at my master’s degree I managed to develop skills in communicating fashion collections, visual merchandising, fashion marketing and communication design applied to fashion products. The experience was mostly practical that materialized in several projects present in this portfolio. To highlight: the final communication project of six fashion collections where my communication concept was chosen and from it I started writing the script and edited seven short films that tell the story of “The Creation of Fashion”.

That brings me here!

The following pages present some of my work in different stages of my journey. I want to be part of a better fashion industry and I commit myself to contribute with all my skills and ideas to help your brand grow.

GÉNESIS (UMODA) fashion films

Digital event presenting 6 collections designed by the finalists of the Degree in Design and Fashion Marketing of the University of Minho (Portugal). Idealization, script writing, directing, production and editing of seven short films that tell the story of fashion creation from the perspective of young designers. Available on Youtube.

LEMON JELLY X FERNANDO PESSOA communication briefing

Communication briefing to promote a partnership between the Portuguese brand Lemon Jelly and the poet Fernando Pessoa. Preparation of extensive document presenting the brand, the partnership, the purpose and the communication objectives to be achieved with desired formats and platforms.

NEW LIFE (LEMON JELLY) display proposal

Conceptualization of a double shop window for a pop-up store of the brand Lemon Jelly in celebration of Portuguese plastic artists and in partnership with the artist Joana Vasconcelos. Shop window prototype where the concern for sustainability and the brand's values are present.

international marketing plan Conception of a fashion related startup, materialized in vending machines only with products related to fashion, beauty and lifestyle. Development of an international marketing plan with the opening of spaces where it would be possible to access the vending machines (integrated concept of coffee shop and point of sale).

packaging design Conception and design of the packaging for the Guarani brand, producer of jams in tubes. Creation of the packaging prototype in different colours, with different flavours assigned.

new website for fashion at UM The project was born from the need to create a single platform that would promote the fashion courses of the University of Minho (in Portugal) independently from the institutional website, aiming to position the educational centre at the level of national Fashion Schools. Idealization, structuring and web design of the platform, as well as data processing and inclusion of new contents.

ANDOR VIOLETA content creation

The project "Andor Violeta" was born from a group university work about Social Media. It started as a blog with relevant content for its audience, becoming just an Instagram page in a later restructuring. Light, fun, not at all problematic and very relatable, Andor Violeta was a project from the heart that involved the creation of a visual identity, a communication strategy and social media management.

ANDOR VIOLETA criação de conteúdo O projeto “Andor Violeta” nasceu de um trabalho de grupo sobre Redes Sociais. Começou por ser um blog com conteúdo relevante para o seu público, passando a ser apenas uma página de Instagram numa posterior reestruturação. Leve, divertido, nada problemático e muito “relatable”, o Andor Violeta foi um projeto do coração que envolveu a criação de uma identidade visual, uma estratégia de comunicação e a gestão de redes sociais.
