YOUNGER ENTERPRISE SYSTEMS Younger Enterprise Systems, LLC Dan Blumenstein - Lead Systems Engineer 944 Main St., Ste D Stevens Point, WI 54481 (715) 340-3082 dan@youngersystems.com

Cole Younger, President

Dan Blumenstein, Lead Systems Engineer

Younger Enterprise Systems, LLC, or “YES” as we call it, provides IT support services and consulting to the greater Stevens Point and Madison areas. Our company has been a member of the Portage County Business Council since 2014 and it has been an important part of our presence in the area. Although we belong to other networking and business-oriented groups, PCBC gives us a unique offering that I would sum up with three words: local, targeted, and trusted. The best business advice I ever received was to get my business systems in order before starting operations. For many businesses, a solid IT systems foundation is their Achilles Heel. Making maintenance and support arrangements before a technical problem occurs can make the difference between little to no downtime, and days – or even weeks. One of our most cost-effective and efficient ways of providing proactive computer system maintenance is with our cloud-based YES IT Managed Services. By providing 24/7/365 monitoring and maintenance of computers and networks, it has truly enabled us to be the “IT department” for many of our customers for years now. During this time, the services have continued to get better, faster, easier to use, and cheaper. So while it has always been an obvious choice for businesses with 10 – 50 computers, we have found that this model increasingly makes sense for smaller and smaller enterprises. That is why we have introduced our Small Office Edition. This offering consists of three packages that can be subscribed to individually; however, the real benefits come with the bundling of all three. They are: 1. Managed Cloud Backup 2. Managed Security 3. Managed Maintenance The backup package is listed first because it is the most important part of any IT maintenance plan. The other services will help to reduce the impact of threats to your computer’s stability and performance, but can never guarantee the safety of your data. Backup ensures that no matter what else happens, you always have the option to restore a copy of your data from a safe place. For more information, including pricing and detailed descriptions of the services, please email us at info@youngersystems.com. YES, you do have an IT department.

Employees providing care for someone with dementia are stretched more than most. Dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease, is a national health epidemic that cannot be ignored-particularly in the workplace, where an increasing number of employees are balancing career responsibilities with the challenges of caring for a loved one.

Level Four status – the highest that can be achieved.

A 2006 study by the MetLife Mature Market Institute found that caregiving costs American employers between $17 billion and $34 billion in lost productivity annually, taking a significant toll on both employers and caregiving employees.

“A lot of our patients are veterans and it’s important that we care for their needs while also giving them the comfort and compassion they need,” said Christina Osborn, licensed clinical social worker with Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services. “Veterans often have life experiences and emotional trauma that are unique to them and we need to be respectful of that.”

The self-service informational kiosks contain marketing materials and, in some cases, a video screen and tablet computer to educate consumers about plan options. Agents representing Arise will be available at the kiosks a few days each week to provide in-person consultations. The kiosks will be open until Jan. 29, 2016. The kiosks are located at: Aspirus Medford Clinic, 143 S Gibson St., Aspirus Weston Clinic, 4005 Community Center Drive, Aspirus Rhinelander Clinic, 1630 North Chippewa Drive, Aspirus Doctors Clinic, 2031 Peach St., Wisconsin Rapids, Aspirus Kronenwetter Clinic, 1881 County Road XX, and Aspirus Antigo Clinic, 110 E. 5th Ave. Arise Health Plan is working with the Aspirus Network of providers, clinics and hospitals to create unique health plans. For more information, visit aspirusarise.com. Open enrollment on the Federally Facilitated Marketplace goes from Nov. 1, 2015, to Jan. 31, 2016. However, Dec. 15 is the last day to enroll in or change plans for new coverage to start Jan. 1, 2016. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Aspirus Heart & Vascular is celebrating the first 100 patients to undergo a transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) procedure with a recognition event. “This is a revolutionary type of procedure, and we have achieved great outcomes with our highly-trained heart team,” said Ronald Miles, M.D., cardiothoracic & vascular surgeon at Aspirus Heart & Vascular. “TAVR can be lifesaving, offering high-risk surgical patients, many of whom are elderly, new possibilities to extend and enjoy their life.” TAVR is a non-invasive aortic valve replacement treatment for aortic stenosis, a life-threatening narrowing of the valve where the heart has a difficult time circulating blood throughout the body. Because TAVR does not stop the heart or require putting the patient on a heart-lung bypass machine, the procedure has made treatment for aortic valve disease accessible to older patients, or those with underlying medical conditions who would otherwise be too risky for open-heart surgery. And compared to open heart surgery, the recovery period after TAVR is much less difficult. “At Aspirus, we are proud to be at the forefront of cardiac care and recognize the responsibility that we have as one of the few institutions in Wisconsin to offer this treatment,” Dr. Miles said. “Our mission is to provide the most advanced treatment available to allow us to impact the quality of life of our patients for years to come.” -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Representatives from Aspirus Volunteers were presented with a Wisconsin Award for Volunteer Excellence (WAVE) on October 6 in Madison as part of the Partners of Wisconsin Hospital Association annual convention. Aspirus Volunteers was selected for the WAVE Award for the role volunteers serve in the We Honor Veterans Program embraced by Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services. The We Honor Veterans program is designed to empower hospice professionals to meet the unique needs of dying veterans. Organizations in the program provide veteran-centric education to staff, volunteers and the community, and have enhanced their capacity to provide quality care to veterans.

Aspirus Volunteers has developed a veteran-to-veteran volunteer program at Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services. Within this program, veteran volunteers are matched with veteran patients who often develop a camaraderie and friendship based on an understanding of the experiences each has had. For more information about Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services, go online to aspirus.org or call 866.331.2467. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Aspirus Wausau Hospital has been selected from more than 1,000 hospitals as one of the Top 50 Cardiovascular Hospitals in the country by Truven Health Analytics,™ a leading health care data tracker. This achievement marks the ninth time Aspirus has been recognized with this honor. No other hospital in Wisconsin has been named a Top 50 Cardiovascular Hospital as many times. “Aspirus is honored to be named once again a top 50 hospital for cardiovascular care,” said Darrell Lentz, president of Aspirus Wausau Hospital. “This prestigious award is a tribute to the dedication of the heart team to provide exceptional care to the patients we serve.” “We are proud to be recognized on a national level for our commitment to advance heart care in our community,” said German Larrain, MD, FACC, medical director of Aspirus Heart & Vascular. “We will continue to move forward with the latest clinical advances in our mission to provide innovative and compassionate care to our patients.” -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Doctors are now treating patients at Aspirus Heart & Vascular with a newly approved SYNERGY™ Coronary Stent, making them among the first patients in the nation to benefit from this highly anticipated new technology to treat heart disease. “The SYNERGY stent is a leading-edge treatment we are able to deliver to our patients,” said Timothy Grady, DO, FACC, cardiologist with Aspirus Heart & Vascular. “This next generation heart stent promotes faster healing, may decrease medication use and helps lower the risk of complications.” /// Invest in Wisconsin, a collaborative of four Wisconsin-based community development financial institutions (CDFIs), has been awarded a $2.68 million grant by JPMorgan Chase & Co. The grant, part of the foundation’s PRO Neighborhoods (Partnerships for Raising Opportunity in Neighborhoods) initiative, will enable Invest in Wisconsin to promote economic opportunity and reduce disparities in five Wisconsin hub cities and the rural areas that surround them: Appleton, Eau Claire, Green Bay, Madison and Racine. These hub cities are important because they serve as pivots for the adjacent rural communities. “The challenges facing our communities require solutions tailored to their specific needs,” said Jim Popp, president of Chase in Wisconsin/Minnesota. “By collaborating and leveraging each other’s greatest assets – capital, talent and technology – Invest in Wisconsin is developing inclusive growth strategies statewide that connect Wisconsin families, entrepreneurs, and distressed communities to greater economic opportunities and prosperity.” “Rural communities face a unique set of economic challenges in Wisconsin,” said CAP President Mary Patoka. “We can’t solve these problems overnight, but thanks to the JPMorgan Chase Foundation, we can begin addressing disparities and getting our communities on the right path to social and economic health.”

We are honored to have Mary Burke join us for our December Women in Business Event as she presents “From Courage to Confidence”. About Mary’s Presentation: Confidence is not something you are born with. It’s not something you acquire by reading a book. But it is something you can learn. Mary Burke shares insights from her personal story about how to build confidence. While it starts with the courage to take a risk, the destination is far less important than what we can learn while on the journey. In 2014 Burke, a businesswoman and community leader, stepped far outside her comfort zone and became the first woman to win a primary election for Governor in the State of Wisconsin. While Burke lost the high-profile, contentious and close race, she gained far more than she could have imagined. About our Speaker: Mary Burke is a businesswomen, philanthropist and community leader. She serves on the Madison School Board and co-founded the AVID/TOPS college preparation program which supports nearly 1,000 students as they aspire to earn a college degree. In 2014, she was the first woman in Wisconsin to be on the ballot for Governor representing a major party before losing in a close race to the incumbent, Scott Walker. Mary earned her BS in Business Administration at Georgetown University and her MBA from Harvard University. LEADERSHIP PORTAGE COUNTY Enjoy this recap of November’s LPC session: On November 19, 2016 Tom Bertram and Justin Lechleiter, both from UWSP, led the LPC Human and Public Services session. The day started with Maureen, Jenny and Ryan giving their participant speeches. After the speeches, the participants discussed their interim assignments (attending a non-profit board meeting, attending Empty Bowls and taking Project Implicit action tests). A common theme from the discussion was the number of poorly led meetings. Another take-away was how hard it is to become an active member and contribute expertise to some of the local organizations. Communication was a theme of the Culture Shock debrief which led into a discussion about biases and stereotypes. This was a perfect lead in to the diversity topic led by Ron Strege from UWSP and the Safe Zone Training led by Psi Fuller, a UWSP student. The afternoon was all about public services in Portage County with presentations by Patti Cahill (United Way) on the LIFE Report, Ray Przybelski on Health and Human Services and Matt Brown on CAP Services. After the presentations, participants interacted with representatives from local organizations and non-profits during the Walk-the-Walk activity, including ADRC, CIC, CAP Services, Boys & Girls Club, and UW-Extension. Then it was off to the Hull Fire Station where Nick Proulx (Lieutenant & Fire Inspector for Town of Hull Fire Department) and Brian Lepper (Fire Chief for Village of Park Ridge Fire Department) talked about volunteering for local fire and ems departments. A tour of the fire station and rides in a fire truck concluded the session. At the end of the day, participants talked about the need for sessions like the Safe Zone training to educate the community about diversity in Portage County. They also discussed how talking about some of the diversity topics made people uncomfortable and were typically avoided during conversations. There was unanimous agreement when participant Kym Buchannan exclaimed, “Fire trucks are cool!” We are already looking forward to next month’s session!

**Change in Date for January LPC Session The January LPC session on Education and Workforce Development has been moved to Thursday, January 28, 2016. Please mark your calendar with the change.

PARTNERS IN EDUCATION

3RD GRADE CODING

PIE, Partners In Education, team up with volunteers to teach coding to Pacelli Catholic Elementary-St. Bronislava 3rd graders.

The program started in late October and will run through February. The 44 students in the program each will create a video or game with the guidance of the nine volunteer mentors using the computer program Scratch, a programming language developed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to teach children how to build interactive media. The program aims to respond to a shift in the job market that places an emphasis on basic computer technology skills in most industries, said Judy Rannow, the director of workforce development for the Portage County Business Council Foundation. She said computer skills are becoming as important as communication skills in employment. "The younger we start, the more comfortable students are with that," she said. Rannow said research also indicates children develop their interest young in computers and technology, especially for girls. "By the time they reach middle school, junior high and high school, females have moved away from those types of fields," she said. "To develop their interests and expose them to programs at a young age is critical to them wanting to do it." The pilot program is introducing third graders at Pacelli Catholic Elementary Schools to the back end of interactive media like video games to show them how those projects come to fruition. The curriculum incorporates creativity and language arts so students also work on skills like story and character development. The mentors help students develop their projects from start to finish by guiding them through both story development and the technical portion when they build their project with code. On December 1st, students from Pacelli Catholic Middle School will travel to the elementary schools to show the 3rd graders what they are learning in their Computer Science class using Scratch to code computer games. Thank you to the following teams for investing time to help teach our students! St. Bronislava Joan Precourt (3rd Grade Teacher) · Paul Rudnick – Skyward · Andrew Sheehan – Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection · Jess Treder – MSTC, Student St. Stephen Jeanette Friess (3rd Grade Teacher St. Stephen) · Andrew Corbisier – Skyward · Scott Gerstl – Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection · Valerie Johnson – MSTC, Student Elizabeth Helgeson (3rd Grade Teacher) · Karen Bezella-Bond – MSTC, Student · Calvin Friedenfels – Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection · Brent Presley – MSTC, Instructor
