2012
What’s New for 2012? This year’s Expo Committee has put together an outstanding line-up that can’t be missed! Let’s get right to it…
New Show Dates
The 2012 Business Expo is expanding from a one day event to a two day event. Scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, March 26 & 27 the two day event allows for set-up and networking with members / exhibitors at the Business After Hours on Monday. Tuesday morning kicks-off with Keynote Speaker, Mr. Wayne Kostroski (see details below). This is followed by the opening of the Expo floor, providing a professional backdrop to showcase your business.
New Show Hours
Show hours on Tuesday, March 27 are expanded! Feedback from the survey conducted after the 2011 Expo told us the Expo needed to open earlier and stay open later to accommodate those who are working and can’t get away. The Expo committee responded to this request by expanding the hours. The Expo show floor is open to the public. New Expo hours on March 27 are 11:00 am – 6:30 pm. Booths must be manned during these hours.
Business After Hours Change
We’ve all heard that Change is Good. In this case, change is good and necessary. With the extended Expo hours on Tuesday, it was necessary to move the Business After Hours to Monday evening. Mark your calendar and attend the Business After Hours Monday, March 26 from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at the Holiday Inn Hotel & Convention Center and is hosted by the Holiday Inn and General Beer.
Theme & Awards
Back by popular demand, the 2012 Business Expo will sport a new theme… Building A Championship Team. Gather your team together and decide which plays will make you a winner! Awards will be presented for the following: Special Teams Award – presented to the Best Booth Staff 1st & Goal – presented for the Most Innovative Booth Rookie of the Year – awarded to the Best 1st Time Exhibitor MVP Award – presented to the Best of Show
Keynote Speaker
Let me introduce you to this year’s Keynote Speaker, Mr.
2
Wayne Kostroski. Wayne is the Founder of the Taste of the NFL, a nationally recognized organization known for its work to kick hunger in America, raising and distributing over $11 million to local and national hunger organizations. Wayne will join us at the Business After Hours on Monday evening. Then, on Tuesday, March 27 from 9:00 am – 10:30 am Wayne will deliver his keynote presentation titled Giving is Good Business – Achieving Super Bowl Results with Personal, Professional and Community Goals. You don’t want to miss hearing Wayne’s message! A Bit About Wayne From rock ‘n’ roll musician, to eatery extraordinaire, Wayne’s accomplishments are amazing to say the least. He was raised in Stevens Point, graduated from Pacelli in 1969 and was named the school’s first Distinguished Alumni in 1999; Was a bassist for the rock band Circus, opening for artists such as B.B. King, John Sebastian, Muddy Waters and others; Transitioned to food and beverage coordinator for the St. James Hotel in Red Wing, MN; Successfully opened his first restaurant Pronto Ristorante in 1981, then in 1984 he opened Figlio’s; From there he opened Goodfellows, and Tejas in 1987, and the Franklin Street Bakery in the Twin Cities area in 1994; Founded ‘The Taste of the NFL’, a nationally recognized organization known for its work to kick hunger in America. The organization has raised and distributed $11 million to local and national hunger organizations with funds raised from hosting the “Party with a Purpose®.” This annual strolling food and wine event pairs outstanding chefs from each NFL city with a current or alumni NFL player to raise money in support of food banks across the United States. Wayne was named the 2010 James Beard Humanitarian of the Year, an award given to an individual or organization whose work in the realm of food has improved the lives of others and benefited society at large.
