Care Provider Expectations Interview Process: ❑ Application Submission: o Prospective Care Providers must complete and submit a Serve Application form, available online at PORTICO.cc/mpapplication ❑ Initial Screening: o The PORTICO Care Centre leadership team will review applications and conduct initial screenings to assess suitability for the role. o Care Providers interested in serving at the PORTICO Care Centre will be required to provide the following: ▪ Resume ▪ Practice specialties/expertise ▪ Copy of license or other credentials as a professional Care Provider, if applicable ❑ Interview: o Successful applicants will be invited for an interview to discuss their background, skills, and motivation for volunteering in the Care Provider role. ❑ Reference Checks: o Two references will be required. ▪ Reference checks will be conducted to ensure the suitability and reliability of the Care Provider. ❑ Other required documents: o Care Providers must agree to sign to the following: ▪ Community Values Agreement (CVA) ▪ Statement of Essential Truths (SOET) ❑ Successful applicants can expect the following: o You will be notified via email 1


o You will be added to our team of active Care Providers o You will be notified of potential care client matches based on need and your availability

Time Requirements: ❑ Shift Commitment: o Care Providers are expected to commit to a minimum of one term. The terms are: ▪ September – November (Fall Semester) ▪ January – May (Spring Semester) o Care Providers are required to serve for at least one full semester September - December (Fall Semester) or January – June (Spring Semester) ❑ Training Sessions: o Attendance at all orientation and training sessions is mandatory for all Care Providers. o These sessions will cover important aspects of the ministry and facility bookings. Insurance and Credential Requirements: ❑ Liability Insurance: All Care Providers are required to provide the following: o Liability insurance coverage showing that PORTICO Community Church is named as additionally insured in the policy. ▪ Proof of insurance must also be provided before assuming responsibilities/scheduled to provide care ❑ Background Checks: o A background check may be conducted as part of the screening process. ▪ Care Providers with disqualifying criminal convictions will not be eligible to volunteer o Review of certification(s) with the licensing body

❑ Credential Verification: o Relevant credentials, certifications, or licenses (if applicable) must be provided ▪ These will be verified before you are scheduled/assume responsibilities to provide care 1


Other Important Information: ❑ Communication: o Open, honest and effective communication with the PORTICO Care Centre leadership team or designate, fellow Care Providers, and church staff is essential to properly ensure that we are meeting the needs of those in our community. o Regular updates on availability and any concerns are encouraged and must be submitted in writing via email to the Care Centre leadership team at carecentre@porticocanada.ca. ❑ Professional Conduct/Practices: o Care Providers are expected to conduct themselves professionally and adhere to the church's code of conduct and ethical guidelines. o Care Providers must maintain strict confidentiality regarding any sensitive information obtained while providing care. Breaching confidentiality may result in termination of volunteer status. o Familiarity with and adherence to emergency procedures is crucial. Care Providers should be prepared to respond appropriately in case of emergencies. ❑ Proselytizing o The PORTICO Care Centre is a Christian-run organization, but it is also a place where individuals in need from the broader community will seek holistic care. Care Providers should not use this as an opportunity to proselytize, unless initiated by the client. ❑ Soliciting o The PORTICO Care Centre aims to care for people in a holistic manner that is the most beneficial for the client in need. Care Providers should not use this as an opportunity to promote personal gain. Care Providers are not to solicit clients, unless initiated by the client. Please Note: We cannot guarantee referrals. Our Care Assessment team will refer clients to Care Providers based on a variety of factors including availability, client need, and provider specializations (whenever applicable). 1
