PSU’s vocal program is the largest in the Northwest with more than 100 students studying voice privately and more than 250 students singing in seven different choirs. Members of the PSU Voice Faculty have international and national reputations as performers and teachers. Each year, internationally recognized opera and choral artists come to PSU to inspire and teach.
The Portland Community offers our students many opportunities to perform with professional organizations such as the Oregon Symphony, Portland Opera, Opera Theatre Oregon, and Live on Stage. Our alumni are winners of major awards and competitions. Many have successful careers as professional singers on Broadway and at the Metropolitan opera, and as conductors and music educators at high schools and colleges throughout the country and in Europe.
