FC DALLAS vs PORTLAND TIMBERS TOYOTA STADIUM, Frisco, Texas March 29, 2013 (WEEK 4, MLS Game #30) 7:30 p.m. CT (TWCSN-TX; ROOT-NW) Western Conference leaders FC Dallas put their undefeated mark on the line when they entertain the Portland Timbers in a key divisional matchup on Saturday evening at Toyota Stadium. FC Dallas returned home last weekend and won for the second time in three starts, a 3-1 defeat of Chivas USA. The Timbers are still looking for their first win of 2014, falling for the first time last weekend in a 2-0 defeat at the Colorado Rapids. REFEREE: Sorin Stoica. The Timbers have come away with points on two of four trips to FC Dallas.  Coaches record: Oscar Pareja vs. POR: P6 W2 L3 T1 … Caleb Porter vs. DAL: P3 W2 L0 T1 FC DALLAS FC Dallas continued their undefeated start to the campaign, getting three late goals on their way to a 3-1 win against Chivas USA on Saturday evening at Toyota Stadium. FC Dallas sit atop the Western Conference with 7 points from 3 games. LAST MATCH  FC Dallas took the lead in the 71st minute. From a free kick, Mauro Diaz sent in a looping ball that found defensive midfielder Hendry Thomas in the box. He nodded the ball down for an onrushing Fabian Castillo, who put the ball first-time into the back of the net.  The lead was 2-0 in the 79th minute. From just inside the halfway line, Diaz and found Je-Vaughn Watson on the far side. The perfectly weighted ball skipped off a defender and allowed Watson to dribble around an exposed Chivas USA goalkeeper Dan Kennedy before slotting home from a harsh angle.  Two minutes later, Chivas USA pulled a goal back when substitute Kris Tyrpak took a pass from Adolfo Bautista on the left side of the box and sent in a low cross for Erick Torres to turn home from close range.  But just five minutes later, FCD restored their margin when substitute Michel drove a free kick through the wall from outside the area on the right, the ball taking a deflection on its way past an outstretched Kennedy.  FC DALLAS (4-2-3-1): Chris Seitz - Kellyn Acosta, Matt Hedges, Stephen Keel, Jair Benitez - Hendry Thomas (ejected 94+), Adam Moffat (Andrew Jacobson 11 / David Texeira 66) - Je-Vaughn Watson, Mauro Diaz, Fabian Castillo - Blas Perez (Michel 76).  FCD head coach Oscar Pareja made one change to the team that got a late equalizer for a 1-1 draw with Sporting Kansas City at Sporting Park. Hendry Thomas came back into the team for Andrew Jacobson. TEAM NEWS  FC Dallas lead the league with seven goals scored through the opening three weeks of the season.  “I liked our game. I have to say that I’m very proud of this team – the way they executed the plan,” FC Dallas head coach Oscar Pareja said. “It was very good, especially in the first half when I saw the first team creating many options; being in front of the goal four times is not easy in the game. ... They have been training a lot on finishing."

Fabian Castillo scored his second goal of the season, opening the scoring in the win vs. Chivas USA. “Castillo is a player who needs to practice that, and he knows,” Pareja said. “It's time for him to show that he can create options and that he can also finish. Having Fabián in the mode of contributing to the team is crucial for us.” Said Castillo: ‘I feel better, but it's more a matter of gaining confidence. The coaching staff is comfortable letting me attack. They work with me a lot in training and the coaches give me the confidence to be creative. It is very helpful to be able to play with confidence.” Mauro Diaz was credited with his first assist of the season on the Castillo goal, and just missed on a second when a Chivas fullback was not able to completely knock away the pass to Je-Vaughn Watson which was finished for the second FCD goal. “Mauro is the first one that I look at and he knows that and he’s carrying the pressure very well," Pareja said. "Fantastic ball to Watson and a couple more to Castillo. The penetration that Mauro is giving us is outstanding. Mauro is carrying the team now ... he’s doing very well.” Michel scored directly from a free kick for a second consecutive season, capping the win vs. Chivas USA. Of FCD’s seven goals this season, five have come on deadball situations, four from free kicks. “We will be pleased to score from set pieces in tight games when it seemed like you cannot seem to bring the ball back to the net,” said Pareja. “In the first half, especially, when we created five chances but couldn’t score, we kept depending on set pieces. I thought we all saw a team that deserved to win and that’s the bottom line.”

PORTLAND TIMBERS The Portland Timbers suffered their first loss of the2014 season, conceding two late penalty kicks on their way to a 2-0 loss to the Colorado Rapids on Saturday evening at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. The Timbers are in seventh place in the Western Conference with 2 points from 3 games. LAST MATCH  The Rapids took the lead midway through the second half. A ball played over the top ball from Dillon Powers drew Timbers goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts off his line, and after he caught Deshorn Brown with his tackle in the area, he was shown a red card. Vicente Sanchez coolly converted for his second penalty-kick goal in the 73rd minute.  Barely a minute later, substitute goalkeeper Andrew Weber clipped Sanchez in the area as he raced onto another Powers feed, and referee Mark Geiger again pointed to the spot. Deshorn Brown took the resulting penalty kick and saw it saved by Weber, but Brown was able to bang in the rebound.  Rapids midfielder Jose Mari saw a second yellow in the 90th minute, evening the sides at 10 men apiece, but Portland was unable to work its way back into the match.  Timbers head coach Caleb Porter made two changes to the team that came back for a 1-1 draw with the Chicago Fire at Providence Park. Pa Modou Kah came back into the side for Norberto Paparatto, and Steve Zakuani started in place of Maximiliano Urruti.  PORTLAND TIMBERS (4-1-2-3): Donovan Ricketts (ejected 71) - Jack Jewsbury (Alvas Powell 79), Pa Modou Kah, Mamadou Danso, Michael Harrington - Diego Chara - Will Johnson, Diego Valeri - Darlington Nagbe, Gaston Fernandez, Steve Zakuani (Maximiliano Urruti 65). TEAM NEWS  The Timbers lost for the first time this season after back-to-back draws to open the campaign. A year ago, they recorded three draws and a loss in their first four games – then won twice in a row and did not lose again until after the start of June.  “It comes down to points and winning and we didn’t. We’re not making excuses. This locker room, myself, we don’t makes excuses. There were some things certainly that were against us today and it was tough, there were a few things that we question, but in the end we’re not going to make excuses,” said Timbers head coach Caleb Porter. “We’re going to get back to work, we’re not going to dwell too long, and will move on quickly. This is one where you want to have a pretty short-term memory.”  After Donovan Ricketts was sent off, the first two shots Andrew Weber faced after coming on as a substitute goalkeeper were both penalty kicks. He saved the second – they were the first two spot kicks he’d faced in his MLS career – but Colorado’s Deshorn Brown scored on the rebound.  Of the Timbers four goals allowed this season, three have come after penalty kicks.  “It’s a tight game, it’s an even game, we’re not giving up very many chances, we look like we’re going to get a goal somewhere at some point. Next thing you know it’s a PK and we’re down a goal and down a man,” said Porter. “It makes it very difficult in that situation. That was certainly the play and moment and call that changed the game. I thought our guys deserved better, and it’s unfortunate.”  The Timbers were also shut out at the attacking end for the first time this season, now with two goals from their three games on the year.

“You can see in the performance it’s there,” Porter said. “We’re not certainly where we need to be, nor is any team at this point. It’s not where you start but where you end, how you finish. ... It’s not like we’re in games wondering how we’re going to win,” he said. “We’re at the end of the games wondering how we lost.” Steve Zakuani made his first start for the Timbers since coming to the club from Seattle Sounders FC in the offseason. On Wednesday, Ricketts had a second game added to his suspension in a ruling by the MLS Disciplinary Committee.

FC DALLAS INJURY REPORT QUESTIONABLE – Raul Fernandez (GK) sports hernia; George John (D) right knee; Walker Zimmerman (D) groin; Zach Loyd (D) right hip strain; Andrew Jacobson (M) left ankle sprain; Adam Moffat (M) left hamstring strain, Andres Escobar (M) lower back sprain. BIG TEX’S DEBUT Forward David Texeira made his first appearance for FC Dallas in a 1‐1 draw against defending MLS Cup Champion Sporting Kansas City on March 15. He th came on in place of Mauro Diaz in the 78 minute. Texeira intercepted a pass th in the 89 minute and earned a free kick for FC Dallas that resulted in the game‐tying goal. The Uruguayan striker earned another free kick opportunity for FC Dallas in his second appearance against Chivas USA on March 22. th Michel converted the set piece opportunity in the 86 minute to give FC Dallas the 3‐1 victory. th MOFFAT’S 100 CAREER MLS START th Adam Moffat made his 100 regular‐season MLS start last weekend against Chivas USA. Moffat started and played 11 minutes before suffering a hamstring injury. His first MLS start was for Columbus on 10/20/2007 in a match at D.C. United’s RFK Stadium. STARTING IN NET With 2013 MLS all‐star goalkeeper Raul Fernandez rehabbing an injury, goalkeepers Chris Seitz and Richard Sanchez split time in goal this preseason. Seitz started the last three matches for FC Dallas in 2013 and earned the starting role in all three matches this season. The California‐native now has 45 MLS starts under his belt, 15 of which have been for FC Dallas. Seitz started eight MLS matches for Dallas in 2013. He finished the year with a 1.38 GAA, 24 saves, two shutouts and a 4‐2‐2 record. He ranks second in saves made (14) this season behind RSL’s Nick Rimando (16). BACK ON TOP FC Dallas’ 2‐0‐1 start to the 2014 season has the team back on top of the MLS table for the first time since June 15, 2013. CASTILLO’S PACE Fabian Castillo averaged 1.7 shots per game through his first 66 starts in MLS. He fired five shots on March 8, putting him second in MLS behind only SKC’s Dom Dwyer (6) after opening day. Sporting KC managed to contain the speedster on March 15, limiting him to one shot, but the Colombian found the back of the net again versus Chivas USA on March 22. Castillo, 21, has already equaled his goal‐scoring output from his 2011 and 2013 seasons in MLS. He is four goals away from tying his 2012 total of six and is on pace to score 22 times this season. He is averaging 2.6 shots per game. CLUTCH GOALSCORING FC Dallas leads MLS in goals scored (7). Five of those goals have come in the second half. Three of those five have been scored in the final 15 minutes of the match. MICHEL ON SET PIECES Michel was involved in 12 set‐piece goals for FC Dallas in 2013. Despite a drop in minutes so far this season, the Brazilian has still been able to find his way into the scoring summary. In just 42 minutes of action, Michel has a goal and an assist.

HEDGES: A RISING STAR FOR FC DALLAS FC Dallas announced that it had re‐signed third‐year center back Matt Hedges to a multi‐year contract extension on March 12. Hedges responded rd by scoring the game‐tying goal, his seventh for FC Dallas in his 63 career appearance, versus Kansas City. Hedges was selected by FC Dallas in the first th round (11 overall) of the 2012 MLS SuperDraft. He logged career highs in games played (33), starts (32) and minutes played (2,793) last season, all of which were team‐highs. He scored three goals for FC Dallas in both 2012 and 2013. With fellow center backs George John and Walker Zimmerman rehabbing injuries from 2013, Hedges is a vital cog in FC Dallas’ formula for success. Hedges’ ironman status has been well‐documented. He appeared in nd his 52 consecutive game for Dallas on 9/14/13, surpassing Ted Eck’s run of 51 games from 4/5/98 through 7/31/99. Hedges streak ended on 10/5/13 when Stephen Keel took over Hedges position to end the UNC product’s run of 54 consecutive appearances. Hedges’ streak began on 5/9/12. The 23‐ year‐old native of Indiana wore the Captain’s armband against Chivas USA for the first time last weekend. WATSON’S MINUTES Je‐Vaughn Watson returned to Frisco, Texas, from international duty with Jamaica just in time to slot into Oscar Pareja’s opening‐day lineup against Montreal on March 8. The versatile and durable midfielder played the full 90 minutes that night, bringing his total for the week to 250 (Watson logged 90 minutes in Jamaica’s 2‐0 win over Barbados on March 2 and 70 minutes in the Reggae Boyz’s 5‐0 victory against St. Lucia on March 5). Watson started and played the first 81 minutes of the home‐opener on the right wing before moving to right back, when Andres Escobar entered the match in place of Kellyn Acosta. He did the same versus Sporting KC last st weekend when he moved to right back in the 61 minute. Watson played the full 90 minutes at right midfielder against Chivas USA last weekend. He th scored the game‐winning goal in the 78 minute. HOMEGROWN INITIATIVE FC Dallas has signed 11 Homegrown players, more than any club in MLS history. Of those 11, eight have seen time with the first team. Along with Kellyn Acosta, Moises Hernandez was one of two Homegrown players to start on the back line versus Montreal on March 8. There were four Homegrown players in the top 18. FC DALLAS’ YOUNGEST HOMEGROWN PLAYER FC Dallas’ most‐seasoned Homegrown player is also its youngest. A then 17‐ year‐old Kellyn Acosta became the fifth FC Dallas Homegrown player to start an MLS match on 8/11/13. During his first start, which came against the LA Galaxy, Acosta was deployed in three positions (left back, right back and center midfield) due to injuries that occurred during the match. Now 18, Acosta netted two goals for FC Dallas this preseason. Despite being the youngest of FC Dallas’ 11 Homegrown signings (60 days younger than goalkeeper Jesse Gonzalez), Acosta has played the most MLS minutes (1236). HOMEGROWN HERNANDEZ’S FIRST START It took 1,316 days for Moises Hernandez to make his first MLS start with FC Dallas since signing his initial Homegrown contract with the club on July 30, 2010.Hernandez played all 90 minutes for FC Dallas in the 3‐2 season‐ opening win over Montreal on 3/8. He was not in the top 18 for FC Dallas’ match in Kansas City.

MLS TEAM OF THE WEEK: WEEK 1 th Fabian Castillo scored FC Dallas’ first goal of the season in the 16 minute th and Mauro Diaz netted the eventual game‐winner via free kick in the 47 minute. Diaz also created the penalty kick opportunity that was hammered th home by Blas Perez in the 24 minute. For their efforts, both were named to the MLS Team of the Week for week 1. MLS TEAM OF THE WEEK: WEEK 3 Castillo and Diaz both earned their second Team of the Week nods in Week st 3. Castillo netted his second goal of the season in the 71 minute. Diaz played a part in all three of Dallas’ three goals on the night. ELITE GOALSCORER: BLAS PEREZ Blas Perez had his best season in MLS in 2013. He scored 11 goals and set up three more in 21 starts. The Panamanian surpassed his goal total from the th 2012 season when he scored in the 19 minute of FC Dallas’ 2‐2 draw against San Jose on 8/24. Despite missing nine games last season due to international call‐ups and suspensions, Perez eclipsed his minutes‐played total of 1705 in the second minute of Dallas’ 4‐2 loss to Columbus on 9/29. th In just 48 games, Perez (21) has climbed to 11 all‐time in goals scored for the franchise. He needs two goals to match FC Dallas legend Bobby Rhine (23), three to equal the output of David Ferreira/Eddie Johnson/Dante Washington (24), four to catch Jorge Rodriguez (25) and 10 to surpass Ariel Graziani’s total of 30 for fifth all‐time in FCD history. BATTLE AT LEFT BACK One of the most intriguing battles for a spot in the starting 11 has been between left‐footed defenders Michel and Jair Benitez. In his first year with FC Dallas in 2013, Michel (8) ranked second behind David Ferreira (9) in assists. He also added three goals, one of which came directly off of a corner kick versus Seattle on 5/18/13. The 32‐year‐old Brazilian logged 2,284 minutes at left back and in the defensive midfield in 2013. Now 35 years old and the oldest player on the FC Dallas roster, Benitez logged 2,473 minutes last season, which was second only to Matt Hedges. He scored a goal and had one assist in 2013. Benitez (130) needs four more appearances this season to surpass Mark Santel (133) for eighth all‐time in FC Dallas history. Benitez (124) will also take over the sixth position from Chad Deering (132) in games started for FC Dallas in nine matches. Benitez has started at left back in all three games for FC Dallas in 2014 but th Michel came on late to assist on Matt Hedges goal in the 90 minute versus th Sporting KC. Michel scored a goal of his own in the 86 minute of Dallas 3‐1 win against Chivas USA on March 22. With injuries to Adam Moffat and Andrew Jacobson last match, Michel could be considered for the defensive midfield role against Portland on Saturday. OPTA STATS VERSUS MONTREAL Benitez: 37 of 56 passes completed, three interceptions, 121 total actions. Hedges: 12 clearances, 93% passing efficiency. Diaz: 43 of 49 passes completed (88%). OSCAR PAREJA NAMED FC DALLAS HEAD COACH On Jan. 10, 2014, former Dallas standout Oscar Pareja was named head coach of FC Dallas. Pareja first joined the Dallas Burn in August of 1998. The Colombian star hung up his boots in 2005 after tallying 13 goals and 47 assists (second all‐time) in a Dallas kit. He spent two seasons as an assistant coach for FC Dallas before joining Wilmer Cabrera’s staff with the U.S. U‐17 Men’s National Team. In 2008, Pareja rejoined FC Dallas as Director of Player Development for the FC Dallas Youth system, a program he quickly established as one of the nation’s best. The Colorado Rapids named Pareja head coach following the 2011 season and in two seasons, he went 25‐30‐13, orchestrating a 2013 turnaround that saw the Rapids climb back into the postseason and had Pareja widely featured among Coach of the Year chatter throughout the season. The Colorado Rapids received a first round 2015 MLS SuperDraft pick and allocation money as compensation for Pareja. DAN HUNT NAMED FC DALLAS PRESIDENT On Jan. 20, 2014, FC Dallas Chairman Clark Hunt announced Dan Hunt as President of FC Dallas. Andres Escobar opened the scoring for th FC Dallas in the 45 minute before Stephen Keel added an insurance goal in the second half. Peter Luccin had a hand in both goals. The veteran midfielder picked up an assist on Escobar’s goal and tagged the crossbar on a free kick attempt seconds before Keel nodded home the second goal of the day. FC Dallas Homegrown goalkeeper, Richard Sanchez also earned his first win and clean sheet of the season. The FC Dallas Reserves improved to 2‐0‐0 with another 2‐0 victory, this time against Chivas USA Reserves on AdvoCare Field 1, Sunday, March 23. Dallas’ first‐round pick in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft, Tesho Akindele scored both goals for FC Dallas on assists from Homegrown midfielder Danny Garcia.

LAST MATCH RECAP A pair of penalty-kick goals during an event-filled final 20 minutes of play was the difference as the Colorado Rapids defeated the Timbers, 2-0, under cold and snowy conditions at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colo., on March 22. On the road for the first time this season, the Timbers were able to contain the Rapids and dictate periods of play. But the game turned in the 68th minute when Portland goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts was issued a straight red card following a challenge inside the box. It was the first of two penalty kicks awarded to the Rapids within a two-minute span, and the home side was able to convert both opportunities. Both sides finished the match with 10 players as Colorado had a player sent off in the final minutes of regulation.

Providence Park opened on April 14, 2011, in front of a sold-out crowd in the Timbers first-ever home match as an MLS team. The club proceeded to sell out 51 consecutive regular season home games in the team’s first three MLS seasons, even after raising the 86-year-old downtown venue’s capacity from 18,627 to 20,647 in 2013. Last year, the club earned an 11-1-5 overall regular-season home record in 17 games, which was the best home record in MLS.

HEAD COACH CALEB PORTER Head coach Caleb Porter guided the Portland Timbers on a record-setting, turnaround season in 2013, his first season in MLS and as the club’s head coach. He was announced as the Timbers head coach on Aug. 29, 2012, and joined the club ahead of the 2013 MLS campaign. Porter received the Slats Gill Award for Sportsperson of the Year at the Oregon Sports Awards on March 9, 2014, becoming the fourth soccer-related figure to receive the award since it was founded in 1957. Porter was named the 2013 MLS Coach of the Year after leading Portland to a 14-5-15 (57pts) record, finishing the regular season in first place in the Western Conference and with the third-best record in the league – just two points shy of MLS Supporters’ Shield-winners New York Red Bulls. In 2013, the Timbers set new single-season club marks in points, wins, goals (54), goal differential (+21), shutouts (15) and fewest goals allowed (33). Under Porter, the Timbers assembled one of the biggest turnaround seasons in MLS history in 2013. In comparison to Portland’s 2012 totals, the Timbers assembled a 23-point improvement in points and an MLS-record 43-goal improvement in goal differential. Portland’s five losses during the 2013 regular season are tied for the fewest in MLS history in a 34-game season. In 2013, the Timbers ranked third in MLS in goals scored and conceded the second-fewest goals at 33, giving the club a league-best, plus21 goal differential. The club also led the league with 15 shutouts, tied for third-most in a single season in MLS history. During the regular season, the Timbers assembled one of the longest unbeaten streaks in MLS history at 15 games. The Timbers recorded a 15-game, home unbeaten streak during the 2013 regular season, posting a league-best 11-1-5 home record at Providence Park. The club also set an MLS single-season record with 11 home shutouts. Among Porter’s achievements during the 2013 season, the club’s 57 points accrued are the most earned by a first-year head coach in MLS since the league’s inaugural season in 1996. Porter’s winning percentage (.632) in 2013 ranked among the best in league history for first-year MLS head coaches, and the Timbers’ 15-game unbeaten streak is the longest by an MLS head coach in his first full season at the helm. Under Porter in 2013, Portland qualified for the MLS Cup Playoffs for the first time since joining the league in 2011. By defeating rival Seattle Sounders FC in the Western Conference Semifinal, the Timbers became just the fifth club in MLS history to reach the conference championship in their MLS Cup Playoff debut, and the first since Real Salt Lake in 2008. Additionally, the Timbers made their deepest run in club history in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in 2013 under Porter’s guidance, reaching the semifinals of the tournament. Prior to joining the Timbers, Porter was one of the most successful coaches in NCAA history during his tenure as head coach at the University of Akron from 2006-12. He compiled a career mark of 123-18-17 at Akron and owned the highest winning percentage (.832) among all active Division I coaches. Porter garnered numerous honors while at Akron, including 2009 NSCAA National Coach of the Year. From Kalamazoo, Mich., Porter led the Zips to back-to-back NCAA College Cup appearances in 2009 and 2010, and the school’s first national title in any sport in 2010. In all, he guided Akron to seven Mid-American Conference (MAC) regular-season championships, five MAC tournament titles and five consecutive trips to the NCAA tournament’s Round of 16 (2008-12). Porter set multiple NCAA records while at Akron, including a 48-match, home unbeaten streak (44-0-4) from 2008-11 and a 47-match unbeaten streak (44-0-3) in conference play from 2006-12. Porter’s coaching career also includes time as the head coach of the U.S. U-23 Men’s National Team during 2012 CONCACAF Olympic qualifying and he spent three years as an assistant coach on the U.S. U-18 National Team from 2009-11. Prior to joining Akron, Porter was an assistant coach for six years (2000-05) at Indiana University. As a player, Porter was the 27th overall pick by the San Jose Clash in the 1998 MLS College Draft. He spent time with San Jose and the Tampa Bay Mutiny before a knee injury ended his professional playing career in 2000. Porter also played for the U.S. National B Team from 1996-97, winning a bronze medal at the 1997 World University Games. He had a successful collegiate playing career at Indiana, where he was a three-year captain and a three-time All-Big Ten honoree. Porter led the Hoosiers to four conference titles, and four NCAA tournament appearances. As a senior, Porter captained IU to 23 consecutive wins before losing to eventual national champion UCLA in the national semifinals and was the runner-up for the 1997 Hermann Trophy.

PORTLAND TIMBERS AT FC DALLAS SATURDAY, MARCH 29, 2014 SCOUTING FC DALLAS After missing out on the MLS Cup Playoffs last season, FC Dallas brought in new head coach Oscar Pareja from Colorado, while also trading for defensive midfielder Hendry Thomas from the Rapids. FC Dallas has started off the season with two wins in its first three games, scoring a league-best seven goals and earning a Western Conference-leading seven points. Pareja’s squad has received two goals from Colombian winger Fabian Castillo and one each from five other players. Goalkeeper Chris Seitz has made 14 saves through three games. Unbeaten at home (2-0-0), FC Dallas ranks among the bottom five teams in MLS with just 29 total shots, but has benefitted from a high success rate on chances. The Western Conference leaders have scored seven goals on 10 shots on goal.

CREATING CHANCES Through three games, the Timbers rank among league leaders in several offensive categories. Portland ranks third in the league with 43 total shots while placing fourth in overall chances created (29). Portland has created 24 chances from the run of play, which ranks in a tie for third overall.

SOLID DEFENDING According to Opta, the Timbers have started the season as one of the league’s best defensive units. Portland, which hasn’t conceded a goal in the run of play this season, leads the league with 74 total tackles, including a league-best 65 successful tackles. The Timbers rank third in MLS with a 87.8 percent tackle success rate. Showing their ability to win back possession, the Timbers are placed fourth in total recoveries (198).

NEARING THE CENTURY MARK Timbers midfielder/forward Darlington Nagbe is two appearances short of reaching the 100 games played milestone for Portland. The team’s first-ever MLS SuperDraft pick - the No. 2 overall selection in the 2011 MLS SuperDraft Nagbe currently has 98 appearances for the Timbers, which ranks him tied for 14th on the club’s all-time list across all eras since 1975.

THE IRONMAN Timbers midfielder/forward Darlington Nagbe has started 51 straight league games for the club dating back to the 2012 MLS season. In his fourth year with the team, Nagbe has appeared in 70 of the team’s 71 regular-season games since the start of the 2012 MLS season. Nagbe is the club’s MLS career leader in goals (17) and appearances (98).

KEEPING THE BALL Through three matches this season, Portland has possessed the ball for an average of 55.5 percent of the time during its matches, which ranks as the third-highest possession average in the league.

UPCOMING MILESTONES Entering Saturday’s match, defender Michael Harrington has played 1,710 consecutive regular-season minutes for the Timbers. If Harrington is able to play a full 90 minutes against FC Dallas, he will tie the team’s MLS record for longest streak of consecutive minutes played (1,800), set by defender Jack Jewsbury from March 19-July 30, 2011. Defender Futty Danso’s next start will be the 50th start of his MLS career, all of which have come as a member of the Timbers. Defender Michael Harrington is 146 minutes shy of reaching the 15,000 minutes played milestone for his MLS career. Harrington has appeared in 36 matches for the Timbers since joining the team before the start of the 2013 season. Midfielder/forward Darlington Nagbe and midfielder Diego Chara’s next start will be the 90th of their MLS careers. Nagbe has made a Timbers MLS club record 98 career appearances since being drafted by the club in 2011. Chara has recorded 90 appearances since 2011. Goalkeeper Andrew Weber’s next appearance will be the 10th of his MLS career. Weber made an MLS career-high three appearances in 2012 and 2013 with Seattle Sounders FC.

GOOD FORM AGAINST FC DALLAS Midfielder/forward Darlington Nagbe has found fortune against FC Dallas, scoring five goals in the team’s last seven games in all competitions against the Texas club since 2012. Nagbe scored a goal in all three MLS regular-season games against FC Dallas in 2013, including two game-winning goals (June 15 and Aug. 17, 2013). He registered a goal and an assist in a 3-2 win at FC Dallas in the quarterfinal round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on June 26, 2013.

DENYING GOALS IN THE RUN OF PLAY The Timbers have not allowed a goal during the run of play in a regular-season game since Vancouver’s Camilo scored what was eventually voted the 2013 MLS Goal of the Year, on Oct. 6, 2013, in a 2-2 draw at BC Place in Vancouver. Overlapping the end of the 2013 regular season and the start of the 2014 campaign, Portland has not allowed a goal from the run of play in 552 consecutive minutes during the regular season.

TIMBERS CALL UP LEAGUE POOL KEEPER MLS league pool goalkeeper Daniel Withrow has joined the club ahead of Saturday’s game against FC Dallas. A native of Rochester Hills, Mich., Withrow, 23, spent the 2013 MLS season with the Columbus Crew after being selected by the club in the 2013 MLS Supplemental Draft. Withrow played collegiately at Marshall University from 2009-12, where he was a four-time, All-Conference USA selection, including first-team honors in each of his final three seasons.
