Description

The studio focuses on ÂŤSports as a picture of the cityÂť. Here, sports tie form and uses. They engage a new way of understanding public space. The place for sports/games as a reason or as a mean, create the conditions for a new insight on our environment. 20 places positioned 2km away from each other are pinpointed as if randomly in a

way to draw a distanced yet precise image of Porto. The city becomes an ability, a potential. The student duets work through 3 angles. A triptych that ties city and form. An axonometric view, a collage and an abstract. The axonometric view shows for each location an established connection between the project and the surrounding urban substance. The collage presents a significant zoom on a part of the project, the installation. It insists on the climate and the space created.

The third document, free in its representation, is a more technical abstract, presenting the project as a pure shape, voluntary and absolute. Technical plans, a bas-relief, or an axonometric view without context insist on the place itself. The triptych drawn does not look for a large scale forced connection, rather it insists on 4 points in the way of Aldo van Eyck’s Amsterdam playgrounds: the forms create uses, uses create places, places create the city.

Menglan Li Sofia Borges Site n°7 A series of concrete pillars trace the current industrial pier to invite the public to enter the sea and gather at the circular piazza. Surfers and fishermen may directly enter deep sea while children can run, jump and swim close to shore. The result is a space, a sculpture, an installation, a game - as in any public space, what results is what people make of it.

Maiara Camilotti Pedro Figueiredo Site n°18 The simple form articulates the transition from land to water and creates a route that invites people to explore its features and experience its versatility. The form tilts upwards towards the end and space beneath contain facilities. This feature also protects the inner pool from northern winds and creates an interesting sheltered place

Laura Huertas Julija Osipenko Site n°14 Surrounded by walled compounds, the square is the only void with potential to become a public space. Using walls as the same element to define the square and emphaTsize its boundaries, it gains an interior quality. A geometrical composition with walls becomes a playful environment, with a functional and sculptural character.

Ginevra Ligasacchi Vittoria Spalla Site n°13 The project deals with the complexity of the relation between the city and the landscape, adapting its shape following the context. The new stairs filter both city and sea, creating a new space where people can contemplate and enjoy the ocean. The new pedestrian Ring encloses a part of the beach that can be used for sport activities.

Anna Brosalova Yulia Zhilina Site n°4 The project uses the existing walls as a background for sports and activities. Both sides have diferent uses: while the left one is for actual sports, like basketball, the other (right) is supposed to be used as leisure, for outdoor informal activities. Playground here is one with multiple uses.

Barbora Hroncekova Lucas Netto Site n°16 Inside a flat and encircled sports club on a hilly city, the project goal is to connect, contrast and enrich the public space. The regularity of the tennis courts dialogues with the height difference and serial random positioning of three elements (points, curves and spheres) that connect the two entrances and create three unique sheltered areas.

Francesca Braglia Lorenzo Finocchio Site n°20 Informal Net is a urban project located near Douro’s shores. The area is a dense city with monumental buildings. Our equipement is shaped by a metal net structure, a ductile material that is able to adapt itself to the topography of the site. It designs urban rooms, grafted on stepped basements, offering a parterre for informal sports.

Eva Hoffmann Johannes Meinzer Viorela Bogatu Site n°8 The project is located in the Matosinhos municipality, an area which is organized according to a regular grid. The intervention occupies a disused warehouse, using its existing concrete structure as anchor point. The sports court follows the preexisting grid. The covering brings flexibility to the space underneath.
