Christmas Truffles MAKES AROUND 25-30 TRUFFLES INGREDIENTS: 400g white chocolate chopped roughly 1 packet (approx 350g-400g) white chocolate melts 1/3 cup thickened cream Ground nutmeg 1/2 cup glazed cherries - finely chopped 1½ tbsp brandy or brandy flavour Glazed cherries, desiccated coconut or nutmeg for decorating METHOD: 1. Fill a medium sized saucepan half way with water, bring to the boil then simmer. Combine ½ tsp of nutmeg, the brandy and roughly chopped white chocolate in a heat proof bowl and place

over the saucepan, making sure the water is not touching the bowl. Melt the mixture down, constantly stirring - taste and if you need to, add a little more nutmeg. Remove from the heat and add the cherries. 2. Place the mixture in the fridge until it is firm to the touch. 3. Line a baking tray with baking paper. Scoop out a dessert spoon of mixture, roll into a ball and place on the tray. Continue until all the mixture is used. Place in the fridge until chilled and firm. 4. Melt the chocolate melts over the saucepan, like with the mixture, and stir until melted. 5. Remove balls from the fridge and dunk each ball into the melted chocolate with a fork. Next, add either a piece of cherry on top, roll in coconut or sprinkle with nutmeg, place back onto your baking tray and return to the fridge until firm.

LIVING ‘Vertical villages’ are increasingly luring families from the suburbs to the inner city, as they ditch large family homes in favour of low maintenance apartments to simplify their life and maximise family time. The traditional dream of raising a family on a quarter acre block is being challenged by vibrant new apartment developments on the cusp of the CBD where convenience is king, with work and lifestyle literally at the doorstep. The Zeneldin family are among the new wave of families moving from their large house to an inner city apartment having just relocated to their brand new home at Portside Wharf - a mixed use community located on the Brisbane River in the heart of Northshore Hamilton - the city’s largest urban renewal project.
