DINING WARM UP WITH

The temperature may have dropped but Sono has just the thing to soothe the winter blues. Japanese hot pots are a traditional dining experience and are designed to be shared. Beautiful, fresh ingredients are initially prepared by Sono chefs in the kitchen and then cooked by the guests at your table. Try the Wagyu Sukiyaki – thinly sliced wagyu beef and fresh vegetables, cooked in sweet soy

sukiyaki sauce and served with rice and miso. Or if seafood is more your thing, choose the Kani Tonyu Nabe which includes a sumptuous Alaskan king crab hot pot with four kinds of Asian mushrooms and seasonal vegetables cooked in soy milk and seafood stock then combined with rice, shredded nori seaweed, shallots and egg to create a delicious rice soup.

RECIPE OF THE MONTH

CRUISERS DISHES OUT COMFORT FOOD

CHAR-GRILLED CHICKEN

BY BYBLOS

Renowned for its home-style cooking, Cruisers Cafe Bar & Grill is dishing up comfort food that will warm you from the inside out this winter. The lamb ragu is slow-cooked in a Shiraz and tomato hotpot and served with warm, crusty bread; the seafood chowder is thick and creamy with prawns, scallops, calamari and fish; and you just can’t go past the sticky date pudding for the perfect, wintery dessert. Mmmmmm.

CHAR-GRILLED CHICKEN 1 SERVE

Byblos’ Char-Grilled Chicken is a boneless half chicken marinated in chilli paste, garlic, oregano and lemon, served with grilled vegetables and garlic sauce.

GRILLED VEGETABLES:

MARINADE:

2 tbsp olive oil

½ boneless chicken

1 potato

3 pieces crushed garlic

1 tomato

1 tbsp mild chilli paste

1 zucchini

1 tbsp lemon juice

½ onion

1 tsp dried oregano

½ sweet potato

1 tsp salt

¼ eggplant

¼ tsp white pepper

1 rosemary sprig

1 cup olive oil

SERVE: Scatter vegetables on the plate and place the chicken on top. Serve with a generous serving of garlic sauce.

METHOD: MARINADE | Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Marinate chicken for a minimum of 12 hours. GRILLED VEGETABLES | Cut all the vegetables into thin slices and season with salt and cracked pepper. Stir through olive oil and rosemary and cook in a pan for 2 minutes until soft. CHICKEN | Brown both sides for 5 minutes each then remove from heat and rest for 10 minutes. Return to heat and cook for an additional 6 minutes until golden brown.

FAVOURITES BACK ON THE MENU Back by popular demand, Gusto da Gianni has reintroduced the Mozzarella in Carozza which translates to ‘mozzarella in a carriage’. The ‘carriage’ refers to the golden crumbs surrounding the cheese which is then fried to create a gooey, mozzarella sandwich that is absolutely to die for. Try this and other winter warmers that have been added to the menu including ricotta and spinach filled tortellini with slowcooked Tuscan style beef ragu, and bucatini pasta with meat balls. Also back on the menu is Gusto’s famous tiramisu martini served in a dessert glass with Mozart dark chocolate liqueur, Amaretto, Belvedere vodka and fresh cream.

GET YOUR SKIN WINTER-READY As the season changes, so should your skincare routine - after all, to protect yourself from the cooler weather you change what you put on your body, so why wouldn’t the same rule apply to your skin? In winter, your skin needs more nourishment and protection to save it from feeling tight and uncomfortable. Ella Bache Hamilton at Portside conducts a complimentary skin diagnosis to ensure your skin is prepared for the cooler weather and that you have the right homecare solution. Owner Laura Hooper says her favourite products to soothe winter skin are: Floral Oil - a delicate textured cleansing oil for the face and body that leaves a protective veil for dry skin. Water Source Crème - rich and nourishing protective cream that drenches the body with intense moisture. Perfect for daily use, it restores moisture levels and protects skin from external elements.

Energising Crème Masque - a rejuvenating, rich and creamy mask that alleviates dehydration and restores essential moisture to dry skin with the added benefit of improving fine lines and elasticity.

Loofah Earth Body Polisher - this unique formula gently lifts away dead skin cells, refining and softening skin texture and helps eliminate impurities to improve circulation and tone of the skin.

Special Eye Crème- a special, rich and nourishing eye cream. Comforts even the driest skin, alleviates dehydration and minimises the appearance of fine lines and crow’s feet.

PRIME PROMENADE POSITION

NEARING SELL-OUT Brookfield Residential Properties’ Promenade is nearing sell-out, with just eight apartments now remaining in the building, situated at the heart of the sophisticated Portside Wharf riverfront precinct.

“The remaining apartments are spacious, averaging about 111sqm, which is significantly larger than other two bedroom properties currently on offer in the area.

The final apartments in the completed Promenade tower feature either two bedrooms or one bedroom plus study, and are priced from $585,000.

“They also feature 2.7 metre high ceilings to capture river breezes, open plan living areas that flow on to generous balconies, European appliances, ducted air conditioning and secure parking and entry.”

They represent the last chance to buy and move straight into Portside Wharf, with the latest residential stages, Pinnacle and Link, underway and not due for completion until early 2015.

Mr Butterworth said the latest stage, Pinnacle, was also drawing strong interest from those wanting an absolute riverfront position and to settle their new abode early next year.

Over $100 million worth of apartments have sold in Promenade to date.

“With construction currently underway, purchasers also have the confidence of knowing they can move in early next year, which gives them time to sell an existing property or make any arrangements they need to beforehand,” he said.

Brookfield Residential Properties Regional Director Lee Butterworth said the final apartments in Promenade were situated on the upper floors between level 11 and level 15, with direct access to Portside Wharf’s array of dining, health and beauty, fashion, entertainment and services. “These final apartments are superbly located, generously sized and with high quality finishes,” he said. “They are literally at the centre of the vibrant Portside Wharf precinct, so residents have the benefit of direct access to more than 30 retailers and restaurants, providing the ultimate in lifestyle and convenience. “They are also steps from the Brisbane River and its network of walkways and bike paths, next door to the popular Eat Street Markets, just six kilometres from the Brisbane CBD, 15 minutes from the domestic and international airports and with easy access to the Motorway and public transport. “It is an extremely rare location on the riverfront and is unparalleled anywhere in Brisbane.” Mr Butterworth said there was strong interest in the remaining eight apartments in the 15 level Promenade building, which features a total of 172 one, two and three bedroom apartments. “With the opportunity to purchase a brand new apartment in Promenade quickly diminishing, buyers are realising they need to act quickly to secure their choice position and floor plan, particularly now that the end of the financial year is approaching,” he said.

It is an extremely rare location on the riverfront and is unparalleled anywhere in Brisbane.

“Portside Wharf continues to grow in popularity as the community takes shape and people see the unprecedented level of private and public funding being poured into the Hamilton area, with the Northshore Hamilton urban renewal project to eventually become home to more than 10,000 residents.” The 16 level Pinnacle building will feature 162 one, two and three bedroom apartments, penthouses and River Terraces, along with a rooftop infinity pool, barbeque area and gymnasium. Once Pinnacle and Link are complete it will bring the total number of residential buildings in Portside Wharf to six, with the existing Promenade, Flare, Infinity and Loft.
